So I'm looking for a monitor that can:

-Hook up to my computer
-Be High Def.
-Play Xbox games in High Def (and look good)
-um, Maybe plug in a cable and watch TV

Is this possible? Not all at once but... possible?

Very possible. I do that with a 42" LCD.

If you want 1080P you'll want a 24", there's only one 1080P 22" i'm aware of and it costs 500+$, i'd probably go with the BenQ G2400W. It has DVI and HDMI, and perfect 1:1 pixel mapping for hooking consoles up to.

How can I get sound out?

Sound has to be run separately. I used to run my 360 via HDMI off my Dell 2408FPW and ran the sound from the RCA out to a converter to the audio in jack on my computer and then out the computer speakers.

Some monitors (the BenQs do for sure) have 3.5mm jacks for outputting the hdmi audio to headphones/stereo speakers.

I'm looking to do something very similar, but to my understanding my older 360 doesn't have HDMI outputs. Is there any way to get around this?

You can get 1080p out of the VGA connection. It looks awesome.

$380 isn't too bad considering my current 19incher costed about 500 a couple/few years ago. I think I may go with Mr. BenQ, thanks guys.

hi :) sorry for reviving this old thread but it's relevant to my needs also I'm not allowed to post new threads :(

I'm going to buy a new monitor tomorrow with my birthday money, and I'm stuck between two monitors.

    http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10099163&catid=
-magic rotation for work documents and programming
-20" large enough for my needs and will look better compared to the following monitor at the same resolution
    -high contrast for videos
    -5ms response time (?? good)
    -vesa mount
    -cheaper than following monitor

    http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10099507&catid=
    -looks damn sexy
-missing some of the above features (rotation and vesa mount)
    -2ms response time
    -1.6" larger...

i think i like the top monitor better but I'm not sure about the response time will it be enough for gaming? currently my monitor has a 2ms response time so I'm not familiar with the quality of anything slightly slower.
