Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI
Set during the end of China's Han Dynasty and the 2nd and 3rd centuries A.D., RTK XI presents the most visually captivating evolution in the history of the series. Blurring the line between video games and art, RTK XI features visuals evocative of classical Chinese ink-paintings along with debates and duels rendered in real-time 3D animation. As the ruler of a kingdom, each player has complete control over their territories. More than 40 base commands give players the power to govern cities, manage their personnel, practice diplomacy and much more. Complete freedom to develop markets, shipyards, outposts, forts and military units expand on the already substantial benchmarks established by previous editions of the series. Furthermore, players watch the era come to life through the uniquely individual personalities of the more than 780 officers and supporting characters they encounter. Players need to dig deep within to prove themselves adept at both the military and political arts in order to bring China under one rule. Domestic affairs, diplomacy and warfare are all conducted on a single vast 3D relief map, dramatically bringing to life the eight massive scenarios that lie before them. For improved control over each military campaign, RTK XI's turn-based game play allows the player to plan their movements without undue time constraints, and then execute their battle tactics when ready. RTK XI also introduces an entirely new system for researching military techniques, as well as an Advanced Tactics System that allows players to drive or lure enemies into devastating ambushes. Skilled players link together tactics for maximum damage. [Koei]

American McGee's Grimm
American McGee's Grimm is an upcoming 24-part episodic game series based upon Grimm's Fairy Tales, developed by Spicy Horse and to be distributed online by GameTap starting July 31, 2008. Grimm will resemble the warped fairy-tale style of American McGee's Alice, and will be written and executive-produced by the same person, R. J. Berg. The original announcement was made in the June 2007 issue of PC Gamer.[1] In a recent interview with GameSpot, American said that he would like to put this game on Xbox Live and may release it in retail form. In the game you'll help a person named Grimm return the darkness to fairy tales.

Spicy Horse Games is using Unreal Engine 3 technology for American McGee's Grimm.[2]

There are currently 24 episodes planned for Grimm and it has been announced that they will be approximately half an hour in length. The game has been referred to as "highly accessible" and American has commented that the game experience shares a similarity with Katamari Damacy.

Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm
Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm lets gamers captain their own boat in the frenzied search for an undersea jackpot. Gamers select one of five real crab boats, including the Northwestern, Cornelia Marie and Sea Star - all featured on the series, or create and customize their own boat. Gamers then recruit and lead their own crew from a roster of twenty real crab fishermen. Selecting the wrong boat or recruiting the wrong crew member can mean the difference between landing a Bering Sea jackpot or disaster. Lead your fatigued, hungry and hardworking crew in the strategic search for King Crab and Opilio Crab, while battling to secure your catch and livelihood before other captains and crews get to the crab first.

Authenticity and realism were critical to the Hansen brothers. They invited key development team members to Dutch Harbor, Alaska to personally experience life on the Northwestern. The game's realism is enhanced with four real Bering Sea harbors and 34,000 miles of real Bering Sea coastline created from the United States Geological Survey. In addition, Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm is the first video game to feature United States Coast Guard vessels and helicopters.

Legend: Hand of God
What kind of game is Legend?
Legend is a 3D Action RPG in a fresh fantasy scenario.

Who is developing the game?
Legend – Hand Of God is being developed by Master Creating. Before Legend, the studio located in Hamburg worked on Action RPG RESTRICTED AREA, which received very good reviews in the trade press, e.g. 82% in PC Games.

When will the game be released?
Legend will be released in summer 2007, starting with German-speaking territories.

On what platforms will Legend be available?
The game will initially be available for PC. A possible port to other systems has not yet been confirmed.

Features

What is special about the controls in Legend?
Instead of a simple mouse cursor, the player controls a fairy which is the source of light in dungeons and allows for spectacular effects.

What is the Cinematic Combat System?
The Cinematic Combat System makes every monster brawl special: in Legend, gamers won’t use their sword to tickle giant enemies at the knees anymore, but will fight them in a challenging and realistic manner.

Will the world be made by hand or randomly generated?
Legend will have both. Out-door levels are all made by hand, while caves and dungeons are randomly generated. This will make repeated playthroughs more varied and demanding.

Is there a chance that a level generator will be shipped with the game?
This has not yet been decided.

Will much effort be put into the story?
Most certainly. Legend will combine challenging action with an exciting background storyline. In order to assure high quality, the story was written in cooperation with Susan O’ Connor, who has already worked on many projects in the gaming industry, e.g. Star Wars Galaxies and Gears Of War.

Pixeljunk Eden
The player controls a "Grimp", a small creature that maneuvers itself by jumping from and attaching itself to plant-like structures. The Grimp also has the abilities to swing itself from a silk-like tether and spin while jumping. Using these abilities, the objective of the Grimp is to collect several objects called "spectra" that are found in the game's stages (or "gardens"). Usually located high above the player's starting point, spectra must be reached by activating seeds, which will grow out into structures the Grimp can attach itself to. At first dormant, seeds can be activated by collecting pollen and jumping into them.

PixelJunk Eden can be played alone or with up to three players performing cooperatively, each controlling their own Grimp.

So what's everyone gettin'? It's not a bad week! Soul Cal Iv, Geowars 2, those are what I'm lookin' forward to!

The 360 gets another japanese SRPG from Atlus - Spectral Force 3.

MLB Power Pros

Geo Wars 2 is the game I'm really looking forward to (instant purchase, not even bothering with the demo) and I'm also interested to try Grimm since it's free since I have a GameTap subscription. I'm curious to see how Spectral Force 3 turns out (it looks like a solid traditional Strat/RPG), but I doubt I'll get around to buying it anytime soon.

This week I'm going for Soul Calibur IV and Geometry Wars.

There's still one Geometry Wars achievement I haven't acquired...the survive till a million points one. I might have to start trying to do it again in order to practice up.

I'm hoping Soul Calibur is good. The last one that really stuck with me was II. I tried to get into III, but for whatever reason I just couldn't. I did think it was gorgeous for a PS2 game.

Well I can't find any suitable images to go with it, but yes.

I will always hear your name whenever the wind blows.

I just have fond memories of Chase HQ back on the Amstrad, and if I owned a Wii and this were in any way like that, I'd buy it in an instant.

So how about that Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm.

It's actually supposed to be a pretty fun and pretty detailed simulation of the job with some pretty in depth management involved...

I honestly know nothing about the game except that it's been "coming out this week" for months now. Pretty funny.

Some games' actual ship date gets pushed around by the publisher at, literally, the last day before it's supposed to come out.

What has actually already come out is the 360 version, I think...

Yup, the 360 version is out, and it's not too shabby, if not terribly well-optimized. It's a full-scale, fairly deep crab fishing sim game, featuring boats and captains from the show, as well as the ability to make a boat, hire your own crew, and go fishing.

It's neat, and I've been meaning to play more of it, but I've been sidetracked by other games.

Huh, RotKXI is out in the US for the PC? Any word on how solid it is? I always did enjoy me some RotKIV way back in the day on my SNES.

Darlan, SFIV is not supposed to hit home systems until early next year.

Also, the current trade-in value for Smash Bros. at Gamestop is 30 bucks.

I knew about the release date-spending sixty bucks on something that may be obsolete in less than a year or so is still shaky ground, but if Smash Bros trades in for 30, I'm getting it, thanks. Thirty bucks is so worth it.

(I though SSBB was an okay fighter, but none of my friends were really into it and the online is broken, so...)

Sucks being good at SSBB. No one will play with me here.

e: By "here" i mean local multiplayer.

Geo Wars 2 is insta-bought tomorrow (cannot wait!), and Soul Calibur 4 is pre-ordered after finally succumbing to the sheer awesome-looking-ness of it all.

Looks like this could be the best gaming week of the year so far.

Hope I can get some folks over this weekend for co-op and vs shenanigans aplenty.

Geo Wars 2 is my current pick for Game of the Year. It's just so much better and deeper than the first game (which was already an awesome game).

The first review for McGee's Grimm came out. Apparently the game is fun and plays a lot like Katamari Damacy. Instead of absorbing objects into yourself, you infect everything near you with darkness and the more of the world you've infected, the bigger the objects you can infect. At the same time, you have "enemies" trying to clean up the mess you make. Since I love the Katamari Damacy games, I'm looking forward to trying the first episode out (for free! Go GameTap membership!) tomorrow.

Oh and according to my friend who loves the Soul Calibur series, the latest one rocks.
