So I got back to work from a long meeting in time to have 2 minutes to make and send mine.

So what do I do? I misinterpret What belongs in the headline! (I put "A Number between 1 and 1,000,000" as the headline).

Yup, so I think I may go cry, lots. I would give all my future children, mother, a kidney, and possibly my soul to win an omeganaut spot.

Least there's always next year to not screw things up with my impatience.

Thanks for the chance though Khoo

Didn't Khoo say you wouldn't be penalized for the wrong subject, since the rule changed in the first few minutes?

Indeed he did say this thing. A lot of people stated they had put "Contest" or "The Contest" as their subject.

Yeah, but I didn't enter a random number, I thought it was off the ticket number or confirmation number. I was wondering why mine was 2 million and the highest possible for the contest was 1,000,000. Such is the failure I endure...

With an estimated 500 entries. If everyone picked randomly there would be about a number every 2k, which would unfortunately mean that 5k is not "incredibly close". I'm tempering my hopes, but hopefully it's just over. Unfortunately for me, I was the high-side of 500k, but my good friend Brian has the 498k number and could owe me a very tasty coke.

And sorry TNTTrooper and Kedri, I did answer my phone (although I had it on silent for at least 5 minutes after the number was announced, so it was pretty close).

That is exactly what I guessed. Still off by 1876. Curse that number, underscoring my failure. I'd consider it the worst thing to happen associated with 1876 since the Tilden-Hayes presidential dispute.
