So I want to quit my job for several reasons (traveling at the end of August, what the bosses do are a bit shady, the people at work being self-inflated asses, my position not exactly well-planned out, thus causing conflicts, etc.). Problem is, I have never done this before. I do know that I have to give my two weeks notice, but I have a couple of questions:
1. I have been with this job for about two weeks. Would this affect anything?
2. Can they just fire me right there and then, thus negating me having to be there for two more weeks?
Any other information would be very much appreciated. And for the record, I don’t usually take jobs and throw them away after a while. This is just not for me.
Find a job first. Then quit. If what you're saying is true, who cares about giving them two week notice? And since you been working for them for such a short time, you don't even have to list them in other job applications.

Their ability to fire you depends entirely where you are. Ohio, for instance, is an at-will employment state, which means they can fire you at any time for any damn reason without any prior notice. (Not counting discrimination, assuming you can prove that's why you were fired).
I've given notice on a job I've only been in for a week before. It's no big deal, just hand them the paper, thank them for the opportunity, volunteer to help train a replacement before you go, and set your sights on the next thing. Chances are they won't just fire you, because presumably they have work for you to do and it's better to have you there working for the next two weeks while they hire someone new.

Someone gave their 2 week notice to me last week, and my boss said "Don't schedule her unless you need her." So like what everyone else is saying, it depends on where you are and your employer.
I know in Ontario, both parties (employee and employeer) can quit the working relationship at any time for any reason within the first 3 months... at least I think that is the law... well it has always been in the work agreement form that I have signed for every non high profile job I had.. so it seems to be at least a standard in this area.
Did they know you were going to be travelling so soon after getting hired? If so, they already believe they can get by without you, so more than likely they'll just cut you loose.
i would just not show up for work in two weeks and say screw it.
The problem with that approach is that you've permanent pissed off at least one prior employer who will have nothing but bad things to say about you when every other subsequent possible employer talks to them about your employment.
That, and it's a major dick move. Don't do that.
Since Cali is an at-will employment state, a well-composed letter stating that you are leaving, giving your last date of availability and thanking the employer for an opportunity will suffice.
To answer your questions: No your time with the company really isn't all that important (though I'm curious why you would take a job for such a short period of time , then leave for 4 months). And yes, tech. they can terminate you right then & there, or shorten your two-weeks. However, if they do, they may be liable to you for unemployment (that's a grey area).
they have only been there 2 weeks and wants to give two weeks notice already, they are most likely not going to have high praise for him. Also you don't have to list them as a previous employer.
write a letter saying that for whatever reason you are nolonger able to work for them, offer to work any shifts you are rostered on for but give a firm date from which you will not be avaliable. Try and make that7 - 14 days.

Nopoint pissing them off too much.
I already mentioned the reasons why I was leaving in the OP.
Lock please.
