The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Do you think that the reason that developers claim there is so much piracy is because they're trying to prevent it so much? Do you think the only reason piraters are pirating games is because they don't want to deal with the bullshit DRMs that are surfacing? Just a thought.
The DRM push comes from publishes more than developers. As to why, well they spend millions on it so they obviously believe it's costing them a lot more than whatever they spend.

The only reason? No. Thats not even the main reason. It might contribute though.

You probably should have kept thinking.
Maybe then you would have come to the realization that this isn't a chicken and egg scenario. Piracy is the reason that any and all DRM measures have been in place. Just be happy that they're things that are (meant to be) transparent these days instead of "Turn to page 35 of the manual and write the fourth word on the seventeenth line."
And maybe the reason that developers claim that there is so much piracy is because there is so much piracy and it's really fucking easy to back up that claim because it's really fucking obvious.

I actually kind of liked that, it was like a fun mini adventure and added to the mystique of the specific game

It's very meta
What are your feelings on the 'Journal' stories of the Gold Box games? Instead of just putting text into the game, they made you open an extra manual and read excerpts... but to prevent you from just spoiling large parts of the story, about a third of the entries in the journal were made up and/or red herrings.
Now that's fucked up.
I still have no idea why they didn't just put the text in the damned game itself. I guess they did use it for maps or graphics a couple times, but come on.

And now I will leave this thread never to return.
Too bad global warming will melt the ice before it reaches them!
And since they live in skyscrapers they'll never learn they're lesson!

It worked last time. The real reason dinosaurs went extinct. Damn Dinosaur RIAA blocking Mordrack's free use of protozoa.

Gnomes have no agenda against ankles, only dwarves.
