Q's about Will Call line for International Attendees
Yes. (the will call line took me LONGER to get through than the main entrance line, last year, and the main entrance line was, i would say, about fifty times larger)
I'd be interested to know why a switch was made from the company that supplied the badges last year to the current one, Brown Paper Tickets? Seems to me the new guys are just going to create more headaches for people, with their "no shipping to anyone outside the US" crap.
Also, you organizing peoples had better be planning for a MUCH larger and much more well-equipped Will Call booth than you had last year. No hard feelings to the enforcer's who were at the booth last year.. there was nothing they could do about only being able to handle one person at a time.

Yeah...I hope there's a better system. I stood there for at least a half hour and it didn't move at all. Luckily I had found my badge(thought I lost it) and didn't have to worry anymore.

Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.
Last year we had _tons_ of issues with the international mailings -- hence why the will call line was so long. We ended up with lots of folks that we expected to already have their badges.
This year we know exactly how many will call folks there will be, and thus we'll be adequately prepared. You can pick up your badge on Thursday beginning at 6pm, avoiding any of the Friday morning craziness. There'll be a dedicated area for international pickups, you shouldn't be waiting long, if at all.
As far as the BYOC ticket goes, those were mailed out to all BYOC folks, but you'll still be picking up your actual BYOC badge from BigRed at the show itself.
The will call check-in will be located alongside the registration and the info desk counters on the 4th floor of the convention center in the South Lobby area (same place as registration last year). There'll still be a "main entry" line to PAX -- that's unavoidable for us -- but at the very least your badge pickup should be relatively quick and painless.
Sorry guys, I know it sucks to wait for your badges until day-of.. but it seemed like a better solution than going through a repeat of last year's "I should've received a badge, but I didn't, wtf" clusterfuck.
Friday morning will call will begin at 8am (the show itself opens at 2pm).
As far as Thursday night, "officially" you can pick up a badge between 6pm and 8pm, but we'll be there doing setup well into the night. I would say you'd be safe dropping by until midnight or so.
If you want a friend to pick up your badge, shoot me an e-mail (amberf@penny-arcade.com) and I'll make a note of it on your order.
[strike]So, I've been hearing people getting their badges. Well, my friend gets on xfire telling me how his badge was reported to be at the WILL CALL booth. I checked my status on brown paper tickets and lo and behold...
Thank you! Your badge will be waiting for you at the "WILL CALL" booth, at PAX registration. It will not be mailed.
... what?
I registered July 10th and live about 25 miles away from the center... I thought they were holding tickets for outside the US people...
Kinda fuming a little right now, the whole point for me to pre-register is to not have to stand in line to get my tickets... (although I'm hoping the will call line will be significantly shorter...) Probably won't matter in the end, but for now.
RAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE[/strike]
Edit: Went of the handle prematurely. Another friend has his badges and his status is the same.
How long did people stand in line for last year? or is there an estimated time for how long people will stand in line this year? I wanna get my badge early, but I don't wanna miss the Pre-PAX dinner. Suppose I could pick it up after the dinner but before midnight. Can it be confirmed that we can drop by until midnight for badges if we really need to?

THIS is a very good question that I also have a conflict with. But I guess we could get it Friday morning...
Okay, we've confirmed -- international folks can pick up their badges between 6pm-midnight on Thursday, and then from 8am-show hours on Friday/Saturday/Sunday. I hope that makes everyone's lives easier.
As far as the note from Brown Paper Tickets regarding will call -- if you're outside of the US, yes, your badge is will call only. If you're inside the US and you ordered your badge before August 1st, it WILL be mailed out, regardless of what BPT says. If you're inside the US and you ordered your badge after August 1st, you'll pick it up at will call.
I've made an update to the International Travellers Guide thread regarding the badge pick up. Click on the link below to see it and brush up on any advice you may need if you're travelling in from far flung lands:
I'm doing the same. After the Dinner getting my ticket. We could always split a cab. The map looks like it would be more than a 15 minute walk, though I don't know the area.

Just looked at a map and it's roughly 13 blocks from the convention centre actually. The bus is also looking like a pain but I'll keep it as a backup plan. How much do you figure a cab would cost in total to get to the con from the dinner? Before splitting it.
Someone said they;ve done the walk from the NRC to the convention center and its not too far. I'm all about seeing more of Seattle, so I'd want to walk. But if I'm going to be the only one, I'll hoppe in a cabbe.
Well, if a group of people wanna walk I'm up for it. Especially if it's only 15 minutes. I just wanna get back to the con in time to get my pass. Not sure how late the dinner will go.
It says till 10pm, so even if you dawdled and helped give the extra food to homeless people and stopped for a few drinks with the pub crawl, you'd have plenty of time to make your way over.
Props to Amber... thanks so much for clearing this up!
Couple questions... what sort of info will you need when picking up your badges? Name and order # good enough? Do you need photo ID or anything?
Also, would you be able to sticky this? I can guarantee that there will be more Canadians/international folk that will be wondering about the Will Call (as I had been for a while).

There are all ready way too many stickies up there. The stickies have been cleaned up once due to clutter and there's two more that have gone up since then. Unfortunately, not every important thread can be a sticky, sorry.

Yes.
As early as humanly possible.
Not early enough.
Pretty close to the main lineup.

This makes me happy! how long with the booth be open on thursday? 6pm till ??
are we allowed to have a friend pick up our badges if they are getting there earlier on Thursday?
Well, that is, as long as I'm not drunk by then...I wonder if the Pre-PAX Pub Crawl goes by there...

I know, but at least i will be with my group of friends in the line to get in pax.

A long time. Not that it mattered, as you should have your DS with you.
I spent most of the time last year getting my ass handed to me at Mario Kart DS by an enforcer lady, heh.

I'll be there with buttons too
atleast for a bit

Can someone amend the FAQ section with something on this then? Would that be ok?
And thanks Moe! I (and many other Canadians) appreciate it.
