SOLVED! Odd graphical glitch in WoW, AoC, and other games..
It's on an Alienware laptop and only shows up when games are played. That bit on the left hand side, the white bars and some strange green ... thing ... that grows and shrinks in size depending on how much action is going on in the screen.
When its just internet surfing or watching movies, no craziness, just in games.
2) video memory.. why would it only go wonky in games, and then, only go wonky in some games, Age of Conan windows = crazy green thing, Age of Conan full screen = no green thing.
3) new? the laptop is sort of new, but its not like something was put on there to randomly tell me about video processing during games, at least not that I know of.
No, that is not bad video ram - it is telling you how much of your video card you are using at any one time. It is not a glitch, go into your nVidia panel for your graphics card and you should see a place to turn it off.
It's just a gauge and you'll notice it is in all games and maybe videos too.

If this is so, do you have any idea at all what setting would control this? I don't see anything in the nVidia panel that would resemble a meter of any sort..
That is the load meter. Open up your NVIDIA Control Panel and click on the 3D settings then at the top where you see File _ Edit _ 3D Settings _ Help click on 3D settings -> Uncheck show SLI Visual Indicators (or whatever it will be called).

Do a DX Diagnostics (Start > Run... > "dxdiag") and see if it shows up.
1) dxdiag.. what should I be looking for?
