The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I got the Diablo Warchest for $1 at a thrift store the other day.
Looking inside, I saw the manuals and 4 Discs (2 for Diablo, 2 for Diablo 2) and WOW 14 day trial.
Now, I bought it quickly, but noticed later that I can't find a serial number anywhere.
So, does Diablo 1/2 require a code? Am I fucked? Because the strategy guides are gone from the package, and so it's likely someone could have nabbed the cards with the codes on them.
Help?
You sir are indeed fucked. But look on the bright side, you are only out a dollar. A friend of mine bought the game Tabula Rasa last year while we were on a road trip not realizing it was an MMO and lost out on $50.
And as far as I can remember, there should only be 1 disc for Diablo, Diablo 2 has three discs, a Play Disc, Install Disc, and Cinematics disc. Both games require a CD-Key to install and to play online with, though you could work around the CD-Key part by asking a friend for theirs if they aren't using it.
As far as I know, people haven't had problems with them.
That site requires him to make an additional purchase of $5 or $6 dollars for a key from a 3rd party which is not Blizzard. You're basically telling him to buy another copy of the game, that's pretty much the cost of games these days, the CD-Key, as many companies let you download software for free but you have to pay for a key to use it.
The cd keys are on the jewel case for each edition. Did you check for them on there or just the booklets?
I assumed since he bought the game used that there were no jewel cases with the CD's, I assumed he would have checked for that before making a post here.
If you just want to play single player or LAN, then you can use the manufacturer CD Key - which is 1000-0000-0000-0000 or however many zeros it takes to fill the key. You can install and play it, but it's not a valid Battle.net CD Key.
The keys were never in the manual. At first the keys were on the jewel cases but after a while they went to black paper sleeves and put the keys on there.
Thanks for all the responses! I called a friend of mine and he gave me his old keys, and it works like a charm.
(Funny, mine came in the black sleeves, and I can see where someone ripped the stickers off for the Diablo 2 and expansion disc).

But the original Diablo doesn't need a key.
I bought keys from that place.
In a week I was banned.
They are sleezy - don't shop there.
