Mouse Problem (Middleclick)

SorcySorcy Registered User regular
So my mouse died on me and because I did not want a fancy 9-buttons-a-scrollwheel-and-a-holographic-imaging-system, I went for a simple microsoft wireless optical mouse 2.0. Which works fine, except I can't get the mousewheel click to do what I want.

Back with my old mouse a middle click in firefox would do the following:
- on a link: open it in a new tab
- in sage rss viewer: open rss feed in new tab
- somewhere on the page: autoscroll activated

With my new mouse nothing happens ... I tried to set the middle button to several functions, and if I try something silly like "close window" or something it works just fine, just the middle click setting appears not to get to firefox.

Anyone got an idea how to get my functionality back?

Strange glitch. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling whatever software you're using that lets you set the button to middle-click?

You could also try using logitech's mouse software, I assume they still let it work with MS mice.
