Need a new monitor

So I'm looking for some reccommendations for a new monitor - the old 2001 NEC (I think? Generic something) finally gave up the ghost yesterday, a bit randomly. I'm basically looking for something to play TF2 on for the time being, but nice enough to look good on a new system when I drop for one a few months or a year down the road. I remember a while ago that LCDs were supposedly terrible for gaming, but now they're the new hotness? I've never had one, and I'm looking to go that direction now.

Note: Current rig was purchased when HL2 just came out; ie: it's a bit underpowered now. I'm a bit worried about getting something with a 1900x1200 native resolution, I'm not sure if my vid card will be able to hack that (run it at all, or not well if it does). I've got a NVidia 6800 GT 256mg in my box right now.

I've got a Dell 2001FPW that's quite nice, though it's an older model. I play TF2 at 1680x1050 on it, looks great. I'd recommend checking out reviews for flat panel monitors in the 20-22" range. Most of those use the 1680x1050 native, which will be a fair bit kinder to your 6800.
