"The Ball" T-Shirts

edited September 2006 in PAX Archive
For the magical event of PAX'07, I have now decided I will be making shirts featuring my own biblical passage concerning the Ball and the Cube.

Not to mention, I will also put the likeness of the ball on the back, showing It beaming It's light upon PAX.

The passage will read as follows:
And 'lo, the Beast shall rise, and he shall be 6 sided.
The Beast shall speak, and his voice shall resound with madness,
"I, Cube, have come for Ball, we shall determine whose time it is to reign over PAX!"
And so the mighty Cube, with his corners and his flat planes, challenged.
"What say thou, Ball? Cowardice befits those without stability, round one!"
And 'lo shall combat be had, as Cube arrives, within the second millenium,
upon the seventh year, near the closing of the month of Augusutus.
And yay upon the chosen, for the followers of the victor shall recieve and defile the corpse of the fallen...

I have plenty of time, approximately 1 year, to get these ready, and I plan on making a few.

Would anyone like to put their interest out there now? So I can get a rough estimate and take some names for people I can reserve some for.

That sounds like some total awesomeness. If it's alright with everybody, I would like to make a Ball shirt that merely has the ball and the words "ALL HAIL THE BALL" above it for availability at our store on cafepress. But I'd totally like one of those, for that is an awesome phrasing for Ball.

Brilliant, my shirts will also be available on my own CafePress website. I'll post a link at a later date, once I've got the design phase and implementation out of the way.

I was the one with the Black Mesa green t-shirt, if anyones interested, I could make a stencil so people could spraypaint their own as well.

Beyond that, my own ball shirt (as I've already told recruit) is going to have All Hail Ball or Praise Be With Ball featuring a few inches wide blue ball on the back.

If there's any interest, I could make a couple pdf's for both of them, though I take no responsibility if you mang up your own shirt in a botched spraypaint attempt heh.

Speaking of which, they really need to come up with a more flattering cut of shirt for guys, too. The fact that most guys have a much better self-image of themselves than is warranted could cause guts to hang out, though. And nobody wants that.

The cube is the satilite theatre. The ball was stuck upon it's roof, remember? And the satilite theater, when cut out of the convention center, is cube shaped.

    ... The ball... was defeated?

    Cube wins?!

EDIT: Dear Ball, it's true! I just realized, the Cube defeated Ball, and now, Khoo is taking the defeated Ball and defiling It by selling It on eBay!

My prophecy comes to light! And now, there shall be 10,000 years of Ball-lessness...

I'd say it was a tough battle, but ball won. It was on top in the end. Kept smacking cube's sides for a while, until it ended up on top.

    So ball won.

Exhausted from the battle, ball laid to rest. The messiah, Khoo, then retrieved the resting ball and set it someplace sacred until it's time to rise again.

Okay, I understand now. I misread the signs.

Ball is being sent to a place of reverence for It's battle prowess and ultimate victory.

We shall be defiling the Cube by moving out of the MCC and heading into Seattle, never to extend our love within it's walls again.

    ALL HAIL THE BALL!

    Prophecy fulfilled!

The Ball reminds me of Evil Otto from Berzerk.

Evil Otto gave me nightmares when I was a wee Atari-playing lad.

I don't know if I like the Ball.

Hmm, another good design would follow the same vein as Baby vs. Rhino, only Cube vs. Ball...dunno if the PA logo is needed, true followers of Ball should know and understand, and bow their heads in humble reverence at the memory of the epic victory of our Ball...

How dare you libel our beloved Ball!

And seriously, it's PAX, things don't have to make sense as long as we're having fun. If we form a new religion based on the tenants of Ball, I'd gladly spread the word. Though I'm guessing you didn't hear some of the cheering in the tournements in the BYOC. We made up for numbers in enthusiasm.

I'd just like to throw this out there as a suggestion: Perhaps the ball is not from this planet. Perhaps it is an ambassador sent from a planet of sentient balls. My guess is that it was sent to PAX to steer us away from our present course of invading their planet in about a thousand year's time, but it's act of diplomacy was mistaken for bouncy bouncy fun. As such, in about a thousand years, a person from our time, a one-eyed alien and a surly kleptomaniac robot, led by a stupid version of Captain Kirk and Richard Nixon's head will successfully take over their planet.

Like I said, just throwing that out there.

As it stands, I'll be making shirts via CafePress that will be available soon for sale. I have my friend, a design major, brainstorming with me about badass shirt looks. They can be purchased on the site. After that, if you can actually be patient and wait for PAX next year, I am going to be a badass and walk the line the first day, tossing free shirts out to the crowd.

However, PM me with info and I will definately put you on my list that I'm compiling.
