"Certified" copy of a degree

I'm applying for a registry test and a requirement is a "certified copy of completion of secondary graduation". I dropped out of high school at 16 and got my GED, and while I have a personal copy of it, I can't find the original. What exactly does certified mean in this instance, my google-fu can find plenty of instances of places requiring "certified" copies, but none explain exactly what it is. Thanks for any help.

Not sure, but it may just mean a notorized copy of it (A lawyer/Apostle attesting its validity)

Usually a "certified" copy of graduation has to be sent directly from the place you got your diploma to the requester, in a sealed envelope. For GED's you usually contact your state's department of education.

For me, certified meant a diploma that had been stamped with the school's seal. Wherever you got your GED from, you can probably get it from them, and they'll know what to do.
