Trouble hosting a Source Dedicated Server

MightyhogMightyhog Registered User regular
I want to host the HL2 Synergy mod for play with friends, but no matter what I do the server appears to stay only in the "LAN" category of my server window, although as you can see I have it set to Internet.
I've tried a few fixes, like typing "sv_lan 0" and "heartbeat" into the console, without quotes of course, to no avail. Is the RCON password the problem? Anything I should know about it? I blacked it out for security reasons in the pictures provided, but hell if I know what it's for (i em good user). Is the Source Dedicated Server designed for LAN play only, not internet play? Seems odd to include Internet as a hosting option if so...
Are there ports I need to open? Because I can't host games with the "Create Game" or "Quick Start" function either. I've already opened the ports for both "Half Life 2 Steam" and "Half Life 2 Steam Server" that PortForward.com listed for my router.

Any help would be appreciated. It's hard enough finding a campaign server with a good ping that let's you vote for the map you want AND isn't just about full.

I don't understand, shouldn't it show up as a LAN Game for you? It's on your local network. Try getting someone else to connect to it from somewhere else.

Well I've got the problem under control- this was basically the solution, the other clients had to connect to my server which, though it appears to me as LAN, was assuredly available to users off my local connection.
