I just finished up It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Californication (both really great) and need something new to watch. I've watched everything I'm interested in from HBO, and am caught up on Weeds and Bullshit from Showtime. So what are some other good Showtime shows? I was thinking Dexter, but what about some of the shows I haven't heard of before, like Brotherhood, The Tudors, and Meadowlands? Or is everything on Showtime generally worth watching?
I've never watched Lost, and am a bit weary to get into it. I've heard too much complaining about how stupid it is at times and how a lot of stuff doesn't get explained.

well, the series isnt over so... plenty of time to explain. It really is great though. Makes you think.
edit: get it on netflix or somthing so you can watch them all in a row.

yes Dexter is one you should watch
Torchwood looks like it could be good, it's coming out soon. Ditto on Fringe, though it has a higher chance of being tacky by the look of the ads.
Also Firefly, if you haven't already seen it (and if you have, rewatch it!)
Watch shows that are finished only (The Wire, Rome, Oz, etc). Nothing sucks more than watching a show jump the shark (Heroes, Lost) or seeing it get canceled before it gets a chance to really shine (Deadwood, Firefly). Dexter to me just didn't hold my interest as much after the first season. I don't think you can explore the antihero who isn't even an antihero concept too far.
If you want older Showtime show, look up "Dead Like Me." It's a dark comedy/drama and I really enjoyed it. It only lasted two seasons, but a direct-to-DVD movie is due out soon and there's been some talk that another network may pick it up if it does well.
(Not Showtime)Check out Sports Night, an Aaron Sorkin series that ran 2 seasons back in the late 90's. It's a sort-of-comedy-sort-of-drama set in a sports talk show (essentially SportsCenter) which isn't really about sports at all.
Absolutely killer cast: Peter Krause, Josh Charles, Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Robert Freaking Guillame. And the lovely Sabrina Lloyd, who will be my wife some day.
Like most Sorkin stuff, it can be overly wordy sometimes, but I dug it anyway.
I really liked this one too. If you can get over the sillyness of the first episodes "brainwash" scene. Somebodys grandparent must have thought that one up. Someone who had no idea how computers or psychology worked.

Six Feet Under
The Office (UK and US, both good in their own ways)

Burn Notice is surprisingly good, if a little mindless. It features Bruce Campbell, and last I checked, the entire first season (and much of the second season) was up on Hulu.
Pushing Daisies and Chuck are both fantastic shows that just started this past season.
Interesting tidbit, Pushing Daisies was created by the same guy who created Dead Like Me.
And Wonderfalls.
Which brings me to my suggestion: Wonderfalls. It only lasted half a season on Fox, but due to Tim Minear's foresight, the 13 episodes tell a complete story.

Man, I thought I was the only one who bought that whole season. It was alright.
First I hear about a Dead Like Me made-for-tv thing. That's awesome.
What a fantastic show. I felt I had *kind of* a connection to it since I lived in Los Angeles for a while, but even forgetting that, it's still a great show.
Seasons 1-5 are already out on DVD and season 6 is coming out on August 26. Season 7 (the final season) will being airing on September 2 on FX.
Other shows that I like:
Weeds
Burn Notice
The West Wing (All 7 seasons are on DVD)
Deadliest Catch

edit: yes I know its not on showtime. But it probably should be. Or maybe it should be if they took out all the filler episodes.

(The list continues, but nothing from hbo or showtime.)
House
Psych
Arrested Development
I agree with many recommended above. Lost, Dexter, Dead Like Me & House in particular. Try The Riches, Arrested Development, The Office...
*shrugs* I also have Carnivale....which while really good in one way, it's so sloooooooow.
