Since I just got a Wii, my thread spamming continues...
Simple question, this time:
Do I get Rayman Raving Rabbids 1 or 2?
The reason I ask is that I saw on one site that pretty much every aspect of the game, including graphics, turned out to be better in the first one, but I thought I'd ask here first before I just trust some random site.
Heard the proposition that RIAA and MPAA should join forces and form "Music And Film Industry Association"?

Hm, I heard the second was better, but neither are that great in my opinion. If you want a good minigame fest I'd look at Wario Ware Smooth Moves.
Here are some of my Wii games that I've enjoyed more than Raving Rabbids:
Metal Slug Anthology
Medal of Honor Heroes 2
Ghost Squad
Dragon Quest Swords
No More Heroes
Endless Ocean
Okami
SSX Blur
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Zak and Wiki
Geometry Wars Galaxies
I would look at any of those first before buying a Rabbids game. And that's a list without any of the big name Nintendo games that I assume you already picked up.
Thanks for the reply but I'm refusing to buy most of those games because of their absolutely ridiculus prices.
At least here in Sweden, most Wii games are 100 to 200 SEK more expensive than most 360 or PS3 games.
So I'm sticking to budget priced games for now, because fuck, there is no way in hell that a small Wii game/port is more expensive to put out than a full-HD, super-textured and pixel shaded, multi-DVD or BlueRay game is.

Ah. That sucks.
I thought some of those were budget priced...pretty sure Geometry Wars and Ghost Squad were budget here in the states. But the Rabbids games are cheaper for some reason?
Yeah, I don't know, only played the first, and like I said there are a lot of better choices out there. But if you are insistent upon getting one I would say the second because I had heard it was better and have seen nothing to prove it was not.
Heheh - afraid that 'budget-priced at release' is almost non-existent over here. Things like Ghost Squad, Table Tennis, and Zack and Wiki were all released at full price (£40/$80) over here, even if no sane person paid those prices. Geometry wars and Endless Ocean were released at half that price, though, and most of the ones on that list are old enough to get a hefty discount at least in the UK.
If prices are a problem in general, eobet, have you tried ordering from amazon.co.uk, play.com, or any of the other 'european' retailers? Obvious, I know, but the prices on Wii games range from reasonable to excellent, especially in comparison to what you're paying! Assuming you're okay with English-language versions.
To answer the orginal question - I'd go for RRR1, if only by a small margin. It's more focused around single-player (in that there's a 'story' mode, and you can't play muliplayer games continuously - you have to select them each time from a menu), and the mini-games tend to have a bit more variety and skill to them. I've only played RRR2 a few times, and can attest that visually it's probably more polished that the first, but a good number of the minigames seem to just revolve around 'shake the remote as hard as you can'! Just personal opinion, though.

That's fucked up. Here in Denmark it's the exact opposite with PS3 and 360 games being 100-200 DKK more expensive than Wii games.
Both are pretty fun if you ask me, still retarded that you have to play it single player to unlock all the minigames. What the fuck is up with that anyways? Heres a multiplayer game, now play it by yourself for a while or else you won't enjoy it.
Regardless the second game has more true multiplayer games, in the first one there is a lot of each person taking their turn, in the second everyone competes at once.
Bored out of my mind. The most repetitive game I've ever played. Such lazy design it's unbelievable.
Luckily, the game was really bloody cheap (for a good reason, it seems).
I'll save up for Mario Party 8 some day...

Hey there. For some reason, I think I liked the first one better.....I still can't decide why, but I just liked it alot. Although, the second one is definately worth it in my opinion. The second has some great games that always get a laugh from me. Either or both.....you will be happy.
EDIT: Well, I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it. I suppose it's not for everyone, and I can certainly see that. Hope you you enjoy Mario!
Do yourself a favor and get 1. Its WAY better and a lot funnier. It just felt like 2 was very poorly made compared to 1. If you like 1 enough and you want more then sure get 2 but don't expect the same game.
Having beaten both (well, in as much as you can actually "beat" the second one), I can say that each has their merits.
The first one, as noted already, has more variety of ideas and design. Plus, the humor seemed to be more on-the-mark (many of the "jokes" in the second one seemed incorrectly executed or just flat-out ruined by the spoilers in the pre-game instructions. And for anybody who thinks there aren't any jokes in either one, I point you to the first time playing the soccer mini-game in the first Rabbids.)
The second one has the nice advantage that you can unlock mini-games in multiplayer, rather than in single player. 'Course, that's only because the "single player" mode is really 1-player multiplayer. Oh, and the shooting games suck in the second compared to the first. And the rhythm mini-games in the first one were actually challenging and fun for me to play, whereas in the second one they just seemed boring.
In short, if you're just looking for a single-player experience, go with the first one hands-down.
YMMV, of course.

Mario Party 8 sucks. I usually don't just come out and say that about games, but a friend rented it once and we played it four player. After two boards, we ejected the disc and tossed in one of the GC Mario Parties to get the proverbial taste of shit out of our mouths.
Rabbids 2 is a better party game, since it features more simultaneous multiplayer games. There's much more variety in 2, too. It lacks any sort of story, though, so bear that in mind.
Rabbids 1 is still really fun. It's got a real bare bones story, and some of the minigames really make you work hard for a high score, but I don't think it's a lose with either purchase.

I told you! And I even gave you a list. I hope you manage to get a few good ones despite how expensive they are...that just sucks so much.
Yes, but note that my question was between RRR1 and RRR2 and your list didn't include either one of them. :P
Seriously, I guess I should have mentioned earlier that I was really looking for two player co-operative or party games, which RRR2 is apparently better suited for judging from the recent posts. But if RRR1 is better than RRR2 I can't see how I could possibly stand RRR2. Still, without the story part, it might actually be a better game, because I really loathe having go to the arena and the cell and the arena and the cell and... AAAAARGH! (I wonder if this is how all the rabbids went rabid.)

I mean this is Rayman Raving Rabbids. The series is unbelievably complex.
