Vista x64 with x86 key?

SoggychickenSoggychicken Registered User regular
So I decided to go with the 64-bit Vista for my new rig. Unfortunately, I mistakenly purchased the 32-bit home premium retail upgrade version. If I were to obtain the DVD of the 64-bit version, will my cd-key work with it?

Concerns:

1) Should I get the anytime upgrade disk or borrow a copy of the 64-bit media from a friend?

2) My cdkey is for the upgrade version. Will it only work for the x64 upgrade version?

It should work. The keys for the x86 & x64 versions are supposed to be interchangeable.

Unless your friend's media is an OEM copy. A retail disk will work, something that came with his computer not so much.

Actually OEM keys are interchangeable too. (using 64bit Vista Business here even though all I had was the 32bit dvd, used my 64bit dvd from home to install it.. worked fine)
