Manually install iphone firmware?

We're in the process of buying a bunch of iphones, but a slight issue has come up. Our internet connection currently isn't the fastest and whilst updating one of the iphones to 2.02 the point was made that updating every iphone would mean re-downloading the update for every phone.

Is there a way to download the update (as found on a google search you can download the ipsw file) and then manually performing the update? Rather than having to re-download the update for every phone.

In iTunes, click on your phone, then on the update button hold Shift (windows) or Option (mac) and click the button. This will allow you to browse out and find the file to update with.
