Men with large breasts

I was talking to a gay friend about this yesterday lunchtime, he assured me that some gays actually like tits on a guy. Anyway, more and more men seem to be having these, I noticed it especially this summer; is it in part due to the emasculation of men, we're objectified in adverts, and made confused by the new aggressive breed of girl. Or is it something else?

    I think men developing breasts has more to do with the percentage of men that are big fat-asses, as opposed to being emasculated by the media and aggresive women. That's just my opinion, of course.

    I'm pretty sure that 99.999995% of big-breasted men are that way as a natural consequence of their unhealthy body composition. Perhaps there is an infinitesimal subgroup of men who intentionally gain weight to have breasts as a result of their social and sexual outlooks. This group is, I expect, tiny.

    I have not knowingly been in any adverts, exploitative or otherwise, and my life is almost discouragingly free of a new, aggressive breed of girl. I assume you get those by crossing a regular, demure girl with a... jackal, or something? I didn't do well in biology.

    Well, the OP is a bit o_O-inducing, but "feminization of men by aggressive women" aside, it might not be totally implausible for men to have a greater prevalence of female traits. Scientists have found in a bunch of places that there are elevated levels of estrogen in groundwater. A story from MSNBC on Colorado water. This is a paper on analysis of estrogen levels in the Thames. Anyway, I don't know if there's a clear cause-and-effect relationship. The second article cites observations like "decline of sperm count in men," which may or may not be real. I guess the most solid thing so far is this:
    Nevertheless, it has been shown that male fish held in cages exposed to sewage effluent undergo feminisation effects, and indeed that rivers which receive significant amounts of sewage effluent contain numbers of “intersex” (part male, part female) fish.

    Anyway, the presence of estrogen in sewage due to women on birth control pills is currently fairly widely accepted. As for any impact on men, that really remains to be seen.

    Well, I'm pretty skeptical about this "Moob epidemic" myself since I see no evidence of it. But, assuming for a minute that it does exist, for one to conclude that diet has more to do with it than exogenous hormones, it would have to tightly correlate with obesity. Since we have no data on the prevalence of moobs, much less how well it correlates with obesity, we can't really say anything about the most likely cause. But if the data on sperm count decline and stuff is real, then that points to a hormonal basis. Now of course the change in hormone balance in men could be due to global changes in eating habits as well, or chemicals used in the production/processing of food. I didn't say that estrogen in sewage is the de facto cause of moobs, nor did I say that estrogen in sewage due to birth control pills means that all birth control pills should be banned or anything. I don't think that discussing possible causes is the same as scapegoating :P

    I haven't looked at the data on sperm count decline, but sperm count is affected by obesity and lack of exercise, too. (As well as stress.)

    I'm not discounting the effects of environmental xenoestrogens. I'm skeptical, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were a minor contributing factor.

    The introduction to that Thames paper talks about "decline of sperm counts in adult males, the increasing incidence of breast cancer and testicular cancer, and the decline in the age at which the onset of puberty occurs" but only provides one source, which is not available online. Phooey.
