The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
It was also a pleasure to see Cloris Leachman, I think a lot of comedians today don't appreciate actual comedy, maybe this is the Carlos Mencia effect.
Supposedly Saget in standup, divorced from his insipid Full House alter-ego, is hilarious.
I've yet to see him.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
Even if you don't like Saget, at least this time they roasted a comedian. Flava Flav, William Shatner, Pam Anderson: these people don't belong at a roast.
Also, Saget roasters seemed to understand the concept of the roast. You have your friends come and give you some shit, in fun. It seemed like they all knew and respected Saget, and that made the roast better than any I've seen for a while.
Yeah, I mean- they roasted Flavor Flav and Pam freaking Anderson for some stupid reason.
This sort of shit was funny when Dean Martin was hosting the Friar's Club Roasts... but CC has basically usurped a grand comedy tradition for name recognition.
Hey now, Shatner is perfectly deserving of a roast. I don't necessarily like him, but he's made more people laugh than Saget ever did with his shitty stand-up.
And Feral, take your god damned shit machine before I hang him by that insipid neckerchief you insist on making him wear.

Can you not fight in front of the kids? You're giving them a complex.
This show was freaking hilarious. And frankly, Saget is infinately more deserving of it then Pamela Anderson and *shudder* Flav a Flav...
and they kept cutting to shots of the girl who played Stephanie on Full House, and she got incredibly hot.

Norm was pretty great, there are few people that could've pulled off that routine the way he did. It's like what the MST3K guys said about their constant obscure references, the right people will get them.
And Cloris Leachman, wow, "Just me and the donkey", she can be pretty hilarious.
I wish Jon Lovitz had been funny... but then, I wish a lot of things. THe only person you can consistantly count on for this stuff is Greg Geraldo. He should be way more famous then he is.

I'm just going to say that just because Comedy Central has roasted some horrible failures of humanity, it doesn't suddenly make Saget worthy. Dave Chappelle would have been a roast-worthy comic more up their alley, but really, he's actual Friar's Club material.
Here's the question: is Norm really that bad, or was he just doing a brilliant impression of a terrible comic? He reminded me of really bad Letterman, where the "comic" tells a stupid joke, gets no response, makes a face, then repeats the punchline in case nobody heard it.
As a whole, though, the show was enjoyable. Certainly better than some others they've had.

When you're a spy, it's a good idea to give away your trade secrets in a voiceover on a TV show.

He was doing the latter. Especially in the forum of a roast, that routine was brilliant and hilarious.
I can barely watch that Norm part. So uncomfortably bad.
You failed to catch the comedy.
No kidding. Normally those roasts (Hugh Hefner??) are full of the same tired old shit. Norm's bit was the first time I cried laughing (cried period) in as long as I can remember.
But I'm a big fan of Yakov Smirnoff, so take from that what you will.

I don't know about that but his guest spot on Entourage was hilarious.

norm was great, he was the only act I could remember as stand out, although Chloris was quite good and I thought Jim Norton was actually better than usual, even as a fan of his.
Greg Geraldo was worse than I expected, I generally like his stuff.
edit - Saget's far far far from the best out there but he's not awful, and he's not just a "lol curses are funny" guy.
also gilbert godfried or however the fuck you spell it was pretty on his game.
Now that I know for sure what Norm was doing, I still don't find it very funny. It just isn't my kind of humor.
Eh. I understood what he was doing but that kind of meta-humor really only works for me if I believe you could actually be funny. Norm has always thought he was funnier than he is and too often he would throw jokes out that were only half finished.

But yeah, Norm was great. Jim Norton was more entertaining than he usually is.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
It's a comedy central roast. They really don't care if the comic in question is particularly deserving.
Also, Saget roasters seemed to understand the concept of the roast. You have your friends come and give you some shit, in fun. It seemed like they all knew and respected Saget, and that made the roast better than any I've seen for a while.

That's not a neckerchief, that's a bandana. It shows he's from the streets! Nortenos 4 lyfe, yo!

You didn't get it.
What do you enjoy? I need to get inside of that head of yours. . .
Well, I don't enjoy "make a face, repeat stupid punchline" humor (aka the Letterman shtick), if that's what you mean.
As for comedy I do enjoy, there's Bill Hicks, Stephen Wright, George Carlin. I'm sure there are others, but I don't watch a whole lot of stand-up.
Well we know Norm is actually a funny guy so maybe you should believe.
I see him and I have flashbacks of his SNL news reading which was some of the worst on that series.
Did you see the guy who replaced him?
Chevy Chase disagrees with you.
And he kinda established the role.
Maybe if you believed you'd flashback instead to his SNL celebrity Jeopardy performance as Turd Ferguson.
Now I guess all you have to do is suck.
