The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I once saw an (older?) documentary in a sociology class several years ago, and I'm considering getting it and having it around for my own teaching gig.
I don't remember the name, but I think it was by an Italian director (I think), and basically it covered lots of "strange" cultural practices, like a tribal feast where they club hundreds of pigs to death or an island society where the young women chase men and basically gang-rape them. I think those guys who jump off of the rickety towers with vines tied around their ankles in Vanuatu are also in it.
Young women chase men and basically gang rape them?!!!?!
That sounds like a memorable documentary!
So like 9 months later how do they figure out who the fathers are?:P
Well, nobody knows who anybody's father is there. So basically the mother's brother or nearest male relative steps up to the plate. "Avuncular fatherhood", or something like that.

I thought this board was full of intelligent cultural relativists? Now I know you guys only talk the talk.
I'd be really interested in learning more about this island... for.. umm... educational reasons
