So I moved into my college dorms a few days ago, and borrowed an ethernet cable from my old roommate to plug into the uni-provided access point by my desk until I bought a new router. Went and did that, just unpacked the router, and now I've come to find....the fucking ethernet cable is STUCK in my laptop. I've never had trouble unplugging anything, but this little bitch is jammed in there. It dosen't have a regular head on it, either, it had some kind of little nub that you push in which depresses the normal tab for you, but the fucking thing broke loose with me pulling on it. Any ideas where to go from here? Tweezers and patience? I'm afraid to just yank it out...
EDIT: sorry for the huge pic; digital camera is stuck on 7mp right now and battery life is so dead it took me 10 tries of 3-second-battery-life uses to get a semi-decent pic; couldn't switch the pixels down in time
Try putting your index finger on the underside. Put upwards pressure against the underside of the cable, basically pressing the tab up against the top edge of the ethernet port. Then try sliding the plug out at an upwards angle.
If that doesn't work, turn the PC off and use a small pocketknife or flat-bladed screwdriver to carefully press the tab down as you pull the cable out.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
Pliers always work for me. Use one side to grip and push down on the tab, and pull hard. If you do end up breaking the NIC in the laptop (which I've never done, and I've successfully extracted plenty of stuck connections), you can always get a PCMCIA NIC for cheap.

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?
When this happens to me, what the deal is is that the little plastic bits on either side of the tab you push in have gotten bent, and now even if you push the tab up all the way, one or both sides is still bent down and catching on the jack.
What I would do is get a very small flat-bladed knife and try to unbend the plastic parts, if that's what's jammed. Just slide it in on either side of the tab and jimmy it while gently pulling on the cord to dislodge it. If that's the problem, either bend the little plastic part back, put a new end on the cable, or just pitch the cable.
