Been killing me... I know its from a movie or TV show.

There is a quiet mexican or spanish guy and he gets asked to do something or is just asked questions and he replies a few times with just

"Yes" but the way he says it is very subtle 'yays' or 'yeas'

Some friends brought it up and now I can't figure out where I heard it from and its killing me!

It was much more subtle than that, and it was about the only thing he said. It was more recent as well too.

Have you tried Googling for "yes"? That approach always helps me when I'm trying to source quotations.

I have, unfortunately it's such a common word it finds it just about everywhere.

umm... Napoleon Dynamite? If I recall correctly I think Pedro responds like this.

And I think there are likely more places where he responds similarly.

I remember a scene in the movie Alien, where the Nostromo's Chief Engineer is talking to his assistant and he limits himself to reply "yes".

Actuallly, brett responded to parker with "right", not "yes" in alien.

We need to talk more about the bonus situation.
    Riiiight.

Napoleon Dynamite was also the first thing I thought of regarding the OP.

No, he says "Right" all the time.

    Edit: Beat'd.

Also, "You know Parker, every time Brett says anything, you always say 'right'."

    "Right."

This sounds vaguely like the episode of South Park where the kids get a bunch of Mexicans down at Home Depot to write their essays for them.

That was the same episode where Mrs. Garrison realizes she's a lesbian and they do the whole "300" thing.

This is how South Park portrays Mexicans in general, kind of like how they have a standard "Canadian" character. It's in other episodes as well, the first other one I can think of is where they launch the killer whale into outer space with a Mexican rocket.
