Being the science geek that I am I stumbled upon this half an hour ago, the video is rather impressive - although I would like to know how it compares to current tech such as Bump / Normal / Parallax mapping.
I couldn't hear it here at work, but it looks impressive. I suppose the only limiting factor would be that you have to take a picture of a real world object to get any use of out the technique, but that's not to say it wouldn't be super helpful in certain situations. Cool stuff.

Looks like this isn't a display tech, but a capture tech. The images would still be rendered by a conventional graphics engine, but it'll greatly assist asset creation.
