Sorry for the delays here: there was a late discovery of an Interesting Issue with the bracketing software being used - when the "We're Righteously Done Early Print Now" button was pressed all the data was lost and had to be reassembled by hand as quickly as possible. Hopefully you didn't notice our McGuyver-ing it together and had a great Brawl experience after the delays.
I've got to say that the Brawl crowd was simply aces all around. I've been to fighting game tourneys all around the US and Japan, and this was absolutely the friendliest tournament I've ever seen. As a Marvel vs Capcom 2 player, it blew my mind to see such a congenial but competitive event and I tip my hat to all of you.

Thanks man, for all your hard work with the tourney! The issue was quickly resolved after that post anyway, and I had a lot of fun. Thanks for all of it.
And sorry to the guy I lost to at table #6. I was a bit of a dick about it, but only because I couldn't kill you once. I was pwned, and ashamed. ;_;
I didn't see anyone recording video using regular camcorders - some people may have gotten cameraphone recordings, but I didn't see anybody doing that. I did feel dumb for not bringing my own video camera - it just completely escaped my mind.
I'll check with Zig on the results on Sunday if they're not up by then. He's got very limited Internet access this weekend, so I probably wouldn't expect anything until after PAX.
The Smash brackets were unfortunately the victim of a temporary paper shortage and became useful bag check notes. So active recycyling thwarted my plan, sorry.
I recorded the Grand Finals of Halo and have the brackets for that and the basic brackets for SCIV. I don't know if people care, though.
edit: Oh, and Hyper Inferno taped some of SCIV, so that footage should be up relatively soon.
I just went to my first PAX. The day was looking pretty bad with the long lines and stuff, but luckily me and bro got into the SSBB room finally as standbys. The tourney was a lot of fun and people were really nice and talkative all around
I saw the quarterfinal match with Rohins(samus) and F1ST(wolf), where we were all amazed and cheering for samus (which was being played unbelievably) but wolf eventually won in 3. Rohins by far stole the show, everyone was amazed that samus could be played well.
Semis were F1ST(wolf) vs Praxis(peach), with praxis pulling off the win in 3 (though there was some confusion which matches were out of 3 and which were out of 5). I don't remember the final match score that well.
On the other side was someone playing metaknight and Johann(I think?) who was playing game and watch. G&W pulled off the win on that side.
So yeah, the finals for SSBB was G&W... and Peach. lol. Praxis said that he's played against this g&w for a bunch of tourney finals, so they were really friendly and kind of messing around. The final battle was on Jungle Japes (another lolwtfbbq) and g&w swept him in 3. All I can say is omg nerf turtle
It was definitely a funny and almost joke of a finals, but both guys definitely played hard and earned their place in the finals. All in all me and my bro had a great time
No one bothered to make a chart listing listing the match ups? PAX needs to learn how to organize things better for 2009. No videos, no pictures and no chart. Nothing.
I had absolutely no support during that quarterfinal match! It was terrible! And in the semifinal I did switch-out to Mario in the last game. And Peach somehow survived a fresh USmash at 125%+ and I end-up losing. Gay.
F1ST on
One half of the glorious Team Inconsistant. Screwed into 3rd place at the '06 Double Dash tournament.

Considering PAX is the largest gaming convention in north america id say PAX is doing it right :P
Hi guys; Praxis here. I finally went and signed up. Apparently some jerk signed up with my name ("praxis") and never made a signle post. Gah.
I was the Peach player in this tournament that got 2nd- and as far as I can tell, the only Peach. If there was another, they got wiped out in pools and happened to not be playing when I walked around, haha.
That PAX tourney was fun stuff. The 5 hour drive there and back was not xD
Anyways, kudos to all of my matchups.
As to Valdens- PAX is the eighth tournament I have been taken out of by his Game & Watch. It's Peach's nightmare matchup I'm going to be working on another character just to take him out next time. Fortunately for me, Valdens carpooled with me from Spokane (the rest of the carpool canceled, so it was just me and him), so they separated us in the brackets due to the region and we didn't face till finals.
I found it amusing that finals were the two guys who drove together from Spokane. Aren't the Penny Arcade authors from over here?

One of the things I love about the Smash community is just this The Brawl crowd is really great.

>_> Sorry. My DI skills went super saiyan.
Nice job beating Rohins, btw. His Samus is nasty! I've played him a few times since.
I felt really bad for you- everyone was cheering for the Samus and Peach because we're the underdogs
And may I compliment you on your shirt? Several people were intimidated because "he has his name on his shirt. He must be awesome."
Anyway, I appreciate the staff doing their best in a messy situation, the tournament ended up being well organized after the long delay. Thanks all! Next year can we get some of this recorded though? Seems the staff didn't realize that Brawl limits recording time to 3 minutes and thought we could grab replays of the finals (someone asked us to save it at the end).
Thanks for the great experience and to everyone I played! I'm the fat guy with long hair who played Game and Watch who won, I ended up walking out of there with around $230 in swag ;p
I am for sure coming again, it was an all around great experience

Tournaments arent the focus of PAX.
