Hey there, just had a super-quick question, and this being the technology forum and all, seemed like the place to be.
Anyway, for work I have to use a VOIP phone. The phone I recieved doesn't appear to have anything special about it, normal phone cord, reciever what have you. This phone plugs into a box called an IP single port remote. The phone goes into this device, and the device connects to my college dorm's internet. Which I've been told wouldn't be a problem for the phone.
However, after using the phone for ten to twenty minutes, it will proceed to not recieve any sound. I can talk, and call people, but I can't hear a thing, not even a dial tone, despite the fact that the phone is dialing out, as I called my own cell phone and could hear myself talking.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, is the sound cut off regular in the time it takes to surface or is there variation? if so how much.

Then it sounds like some kind of power saving function built into the phone.
Who told you it wouldn't be a problem? The data you're getting/receiving isn't being prioritized like VoIP for a cable company or something would be. When you're downloading large files do you see a dropoff around the same amount of time?
I suppose I should note that I'm using a regular phone that plugs into a "IP single Port Remote" device, and THAT goes into the wall for internet.
