Wii would like to play... on VGA.

So I pretty much already know the answer to my question. The thread title was more for effect.

I'd love to be able to play my Wii on my PC monitor just like I do my 360. The TV in my living room is monopolized the majority of the time by the wife and or kids.

It appears the two options are a VGA converter, which sucks, and 3rd party VGA cables which suck.

So here's the curveball.

What and where is the absolute cheapest 19" (or higher) LCD (flat panel) TV I can get?

    Newegg.com and Tigerdirect.com

I got a 22" HP high performance monitor for my work for only $250 off one of tigerdirect's sales.

im not sure why you dont just get a converter... it would definitly be cheaper.

19" monitor with DVI (meaning you would have to buy a HDMI-DVI converter and have your own sound system) is 150

or you could get a 19" HDTV most of which will cost you between 200 and 300. i never recommend you go with the absolute cheapest.

The third-party VGA cable from Vdigi is actually really good. It converts 480p component video into a 640x480x60hz VGA stream. I'm not really sure what more you could ask for.

It won't work with any 480i-only games, though.

edit: Dunadan, what world do you live in where the Wii has HDMI output?

Several bigger monitors (22"/24") have YPbPr inputs. I don't know if they'll like being fed a 480i signal though.

I use it all the time
but it's pretty much only used for Mario Kart and Smash Bros, local multiplayer. I'm kind of hoping for more good games, too.

I hear Me And My Horse 2 is coming out soon, now with support for the 1:1 MotionPlus addon to allow for more immersive grooming.

i got so tired of mario kart after finishing 3 races in first and then losing the last one by alot because the CPU sent 3-4 non dodgeable items in a row and having to redo it....

still good for multiplayer i guess same with smash

The 20" dells from 3 years ago had composite inputs and would accept a 480i signal. I actually had to use them to watch a VHS once at work.
