LFG - Role Playing in PDX

Greetings!
My girlfriend and I just got back from PAX having had a blast. She turns to me and says "we need to find some people to play DnD with!" So here I am, in Portland, OR with a girlfriend who wants to play DnD, and no one else I know who plays! How the heck do I find a fun local group who will keep the looking things up in books and semantics arguments to a minimum and the plot and adventuring to the maximum. We checked out the local gaming concern's bulletin board and found our options almost as limited as before.

I played a bunch of DnD and some Palladium in college but that was ages ago and my knowledge is too rusty to try and DM my own group just yet. She has played twice and is in need of a group that will allow her to ease into the experience and not be too intimidating. To be honest I could use a refresher course myself!

How do people like us get together with more people like us? Does anyone have any suggestions? Is anyone in the greater PDX area looking for some RP fun? Should I be posting this in the Critical Failures forum?

RPGA is your friend. I would be very surprised if you couldn't find a few local games there. Where I am, there is a local game store that hosts for the ~30 people that play once a week. Might be a little rules-heavy, depending on your style and who you play with, but it doesn't require a commitment so it's no big deal to find something else if it doesn't work.

Also, I don't know, but CF probably could help you out.

Craigslist is big in PDX. Portland I'm sure has D and D people. Might have to travel from Hillsburrito though.

I tried Craigslist a while ago and only go one or two real responses, both of which ended up not really fitting what we were looking for *sigh* When will people learn to read before hitting reply! Perhaps its time to give it another go!

As for Hillsburrito, eh, we have no problems traveling or hosting. PDX is small enough that travel is easy enough.

Thanks! I will begin searching through the RPGA site.

We have a local game store which is actually very nice (co-owned by a former boss of mine). The only issue is that it is a bit intimidating to my girlfriend, and to be honest a bit intimidating to me too. We are looking for a more intimate setting to help ease me back into things, and to help her learn the joys and wonders of RP.
