I just got into JA2 after not playing it for god-knows-how long. Basically, it's been so long that all I remember is the mechanics of the game and.. well, that's it. And even then it's only slowly coming back to me.
SO.
Any tips or suggestions? It's fun so far playing the game, as I'm a totaly X-Com junkie at heart and JA2 is pretty much in the same book.
Right off the bat I don't even know what to do after the first fight is done though. I've cleared the first zone of enemy doods and I think I'm supposed to give a letter from Robert to the rebel leader, 'cept I'm lost on where to find him.
Show the letter to the woman in the first area, that will get you started.
Also as soon as you get the cash: hire Shadow, he's my favourite. I never finished my Shadow solo run of the game (I should reinstall and try it again.) but before I stopped I managed to take drassen and half of chitzena. (The one in the northwest, I think it's chitzena. Man, it's been a while)

I was playing through about a year ago. I got to that town where you have to find the porno tape. And then couldn't find the tape. I ran through every inch of that place several times and nobody noticed it. Needless to say, I was rather disheartened.
Shadow is one sneaky SOB! His first kill was a messy headshot. "What a mess. Where's the dignity?"
Hah!
How do I go about purchasing a medical kit for my medic? I need her to go as Doctor and one of my men as Patient.
Oh, and what's this 1.13 mod all about?
You can order all of your equipment online with your laptop as long as you hold an airfield, I believe.
I have a helicopter drop area. Is that what you mean?
I tried going to um, Robbys Guns 'N Stuff, or something along those lines. It's a link on the A.I.M. page, but when I go to the Guns website it says "under construction".

The Gun shop eventually opens after taking a town or two (the whole town). You should also be able to buy medkits from vendors in the towns.
If you take the airfield in the upper right corner, once you're able to order from the online vendors, that's where the supply drops happen. The Heli drop is for personnel only.
1.13 is basically a mod that adds in some features from Unfinished Business and then a crap ton of other stuff you can choose to use or not use.
Lots of new equipment, like reflex sights, bomb squad armor, sniper scopes, more throwing weapons, more ammo types, and of course many more firearms. What you allow in is fully tweakable. Existing equipment has had stats standardized as well to be more realistic (ie, all 5.56mm rifles will have similar range and damage instead of the FAMAS having abysmal range and the c-7 being a super gun).
Enemy behavior is smarter and can be made more challenging. Stuff like how much time it takes for them to try to retake a sector and how often gray shirts enter the picture.
You can have militia help you attack stuff.
You can have more than one IMP merc, though you still are limited by available voice sets.
My favorite change is probably how looking through a scope on a rifle now actually lets you see further at the expense of not seeing stuff around you. The bigger the scope, the more AP it takes to ready, but it makes hunting down that last straggler much faster (and enemy snipers more dangerous).
Basically it's a huge toolbox for the game and you can tweak many, many options or leave them alone if you prefer.

I thought this was standard now.
