I took the last one from a few different angles, I don't think there was any way around the glare :P It's possible I could have gotten something better maybe later in the day, but I took it as we were on our way out of the exhibit.
Tonight i'm probably going to Sakae to take night photos of shiny japanese things. WEE!
The big building with the light is awesome. That bit of tree in the weird curly yellow thing one is driving me nuts. Awesome shots, though.
this seems to be a common complaint. That and the lensflare in the other corner. I may try cropping it when I get home just to see what people think comparatively.
Nice pics man, youve got an eye for composition... except for the zombie.. he skin is tooo rosy and helthy, you need to make sure she's as pale aspossible, and blood should be black/very dark red, due to age and disease... get her to roll her eyes upwards, open her mouth in a moan, maybe ask her to drool a little.
As they said of Zombies in Shaun of the Dead- "Just look at the face: it's vacant, with a hint of sadness. Like a drunk who's lost a bet."
jcm - First off, thanks! Second, The makeupjob, as has been said, was not my doing. AND as Lexx would tell you, she was in a rush that day and didn't have the gell blood that she's used to working with (as we are rocking japants and don't have access to such wide varieties of spooky makeup)
toast - Probably. I tried on a pair of pants the other day and I thought i was going to suffocate.

I read that in her journal, and was surprised. If anything, I thought finding good costume make-up would be easy in Japan.
The problem is that they DON'T really do Halloween here. The only place in town that had Halloween costume stuff didn't have the kinda blood she wanted, but she still scared the crap out of a bunch of Japanese people that day :P

I really like the textures in the second pic, but the fuzzy people and, especially, the red things in the lower-right really draw my gaze towards the bottom-right.
Maybe if you had moved up a bit, or rotated so they wouldn't've been in the background.
i see what you mean. I have a problem lately with spending enough time looking at the composition prior to shooting it. I need to take my time and see how I can make it better. I never had this problem when i was shooting film, it's too expensive, but with digital, I'm like "lawl, i have 279 pictures left, i'm sure SOMETHING will look good"

Less distraction, but it's a bit unbalanced now imho...
There isn't a lot going on on the left. maybe crop somewere just left of the middle of the bamboo... not sure.. guess you can't fix everything digitally..
And i know what you mean with the digital shooting. But i try to use it as an advantage. Doing 50 pics from different angles will probably give you a couple of kick-ass shots, which will only teach you lessons for the future...
also, i tweaked the third one, i think it looks a lot better b&w. I don't know how i didn't catch that first time around. The colors are boring >>> b&w

way better.
perfect for a wallpaper (with all the icons on the left, hovering over the unfocussed part)
I flipped, i wasn't expecting that to happen. Of the 800 submissions they received, only 3 of them were mine. One of my thoughts was "WOH! This is going to look SO GOOD on my resume! 'Published in Japanzine; Japan's National English Magazine', that sounds so impressive!"

Bottom right! WEEE!
Every time something of mine gets printed, I can't stop laughing at it. What was your reaction?
This guy that i met on another forum, and later IRL style, got published on the cover, because he's a total badass. His work leaves me scratching my head in a HOW THE HELL DID HE DO THAT kind of way.
...What day is it in Japan? Is it tomorrow? Or yesterday?
