Hi, I am looking to buy a new car and was looking at Hyundai's as they offer a really good discount for paying cash. I am open to other options though. I was wondering if any of you had any opinions on Hyundai's as opposed to other cars. I am looking in the Accent/Elantra range. It seems like I could get a fairly well equipped elantra for not much more then a bare bones accent. The cash discount seems like it saves around 4100 dollars off the regular price. I am assuming honda and toyota dont really offer these cash discounts as I have never seen it advertised and I dont see how they can compete?
Anyways what is your guys thoughts on a 2008 Hyundai Elantra? I am pretty tall (6 4") and headroom has been a problem in many cars. (havent actually sat in hyundai elantra) Any other cars I should look at? I have been looking on and off for months and can't seem to make up my mind!
(car would be purchased in canada)

Brand New Hyundais are a good choice. You might even look at the Sonata depending on how much the dealer could knock off. Other than that, the usual Honda, Toyota, Nissan cars. Saturn Astra, VW Rabbit, all good little cars.
But brand new, go for it. At 6'2" I could fit in an '06 Elantra, so hopefully they didn't go down in size.
Yea I was looking at possibly getting a lower model Sonata instead of a higher model elantra. The 09 Sonata's are out now so that is kind of cool although maybe they might have some 08's left i could get a super deal on? The 09 sonata's only seem to have a $ 2000 cash discount though (
I was also wondering what you guys thought of the Tiburon as that is inbetween the Sonata and Elantra.
I think it's consumerreports.com that'll let you compare cars side by side and show things like interior space and head room. I'd check that out for comparing vehicles.
I don't think the prices part of it would really match up for you, but comparing the vehicles would be good.

The Tiburon is discontinued as of 2008, but they're going to have something new replace it in 2010. It's a good car that, until the 2007 Sonata came out, was their best built vehicle. It depreciates like a stone though.
The difference between the new '09 Sonata and the '08 is just some changes to the rear bumper and multi-spoke alloy wheels. A better bet would be the '08s, as this is the time dealers are cleaning out old inventory.
