Getting PS3 to find music files on a local network'd Macbook

You know, using the "search for media" function on the PS3 on the music catergory.
How could we get it to find the music on the Macbook, which is connected to the internet through the same router?
Other options we have considered is just using an audio cable to go right from her iPod or Macbook into the tv directly, but she doesnt have that cable
OR
Using a thumbdrive to transfer music from the Macbook to the PS3, but she can't find hers at the moment either.
