The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
What I need it for: Mostly school (notes in class/papers/browsing the internet/etc.), but I'd also likely use it as my main computer most of the time (gaming and movies are reserved for the desktop). So a comfortable keyboard and good screen are important.
Budget: Kind of tight, but not so much that I can't afford either one today. However, $50 is $50.
My thoughts: I'm leaning toward the Asus, just because of the larger screen and 6 cell battery (I'm not sure 2.5 hours would get me through a school day). Bluetooth and wireless N are nice too. However, I get more HD space with the Acer, and save $50.
So, does anybody have experience with either of these? And if not, which would you get? Any responses are appreciated, because I'd like to get one or the other before they go out of stock again.
I have an Eee 901 which has the same battery as the 1000.
Holy shit does having a long battery make a difference. It is beyond worth the small sacrifices.

I was in the same predicament as you a month or two ago, and decided to hold off. A bit out of your price range, but the full size keyboard is a plus for typing notes.
Improv: Thanks, that makes the 1000H even more tempting..just about ready to pull the trigger on that one.
moosh: Hehe, yeah, the Mini-Note is slightly out of my budget. And a slightly smaller-than-average keyboard isn't a huge issue for me, since I have pretty small hands (even typing on the 701 wasn't too much of an issue). Plus, having Windows is important for Office '07.

Does that help? I got used to my 901s keyboard in a day, the 1000 shouldn't be a problem.
I take my 901 to school with me and don't bring the charger.
It's getting awful SHILLY in here. m i rite.
Just kidding, go for it :P I've heard they were good too and know a few people with them.
Equivalent battery life to the 1000H and better in every other way.
