Strange virus (I think) SOLVED

So I woke up this morning and wanted to play a game, and I got some random blah blah dll error. Ok I thought no big deal. Then I got it for some other things. So I decide to run a virus scan maybe I picked up something.

When I try to do a virus scan my computer bogs down to hell. Nothing else really makes this happen, except installing or uninstalling programs.

I tried doing a Trend Micro web virus scan but again it bogs down a lot, I may try just letting it run to see if it finds anything but I could really use some advice as to what to do.

So in short: Computer bogs down during virus scan, install of progs, and uninstall of progs. Otherwise runs fine. Anyone got an idea whats up?

All three of those things require relatively heavy use of the hard drive. Make sure you've defragmented yours.

Edit: And regardless of whether your computer slows down during a virus scan, you should let it finish.

The problem is, it does not finish. I've let the virus scan run for over six hours, and it just hangs up. Thus leading me to believe something is very wrong.

Boot into Safe Mode and try running the scans. Hit the F8 key while your computer boots to enter it.

Hit Ctrl+shift+esc and look to see what processes are using the most memory and cpu usage. Then google them to see if they're a virus.

Fixed, turned out wasn't a virus just some bad sector stuff on my HD, time to do a little shopping.

    Thanks for the help though.
