LCD slightly darker at top/lighter at bottom

I just got a Dell SE198WFP from the outlet over the weekend for 148 and change shipped (stupid tax). There are no dead pixels, but the backlighting seems to be uneven. I have read that this is just something typical with TFT TN technology, but I have not found anyone else with the same monitor complaining about it. The screen is otherwise fine, but I wanted to check here first before I suck it up and live with it.

This is normal for colors on TN displays. http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/viewing_angle.php has good test pictures and some information.
On the other hand if the display has uneven backlighting on screens without color (only black or only white) that is uncommon and I would give Dell a call.
OLED technology can not get here quick enough.

Depends how "slight" it is, and if you're looking at it from above. Try raising the monitor and see if it's more even when you're looking at it head-on on a pure white screen.

    Backlight bleed:

It's a pretty common thing on flat panels.

    Lots of it on Google.

Yeah, I've seen LCDs where you could literally see light escaping from the bottom of the panel and it would cause black to look gray. That's what I assumed "bleeding" was, but my monitor has none of that.

ArcticMonkey is right, solid white and solid black screens show perfectly even. It's only with solid colors where I can see the slight gradient.

Thanks for the links and info, guys.
