I think something is wrong... (PC)

So today I got a new video card, AGP, swapped it in and only got really multicolored lines all across the screen.
So I switched back my old one and everything worked... so I switched back to the new one.
Same thing happened, so I put the old one back in but this time the start up wasn't the same,
and I could smell and see a bit of smoke come out of somewhere! I quickly turned it off, tried to turn it on
a bit later and no smoke but my power supply kinda makes this rattling noise, and there's no connection to my monitor.
Is there something wrong with the power supply or is this a bigger problem? It's 50/hr for a technician to look at it, so I thought I would ask here first.

I'd unplug EVERYTHING inside (all drives and PCI-cards included), then plug the motherboard into the power supply and try to boot it. If the fans start to spin and it beeps at you, your power supply is probably ok.

Really though, if smoke comes out, it could be anything. You may be able to plug in components one-by-one to see what works and what doesn't. However, that might just break more of your computer.

Look for burn marks on the boards and capacitors that have ooze leaking from them.

When something really fries it makes a horrible smell. See if you can determine whether the smell is coming from the power supply or the motherboard. Or possibly the video card.
