Deus Ex Problem

I recentl reinstalled Deus Ex, and i'm having some problems:
First: Its seems that the menu screen runs super super fast, I think it has something to do with my computers dual core. Is their a fix for this?
Second: I wanted to use some old saves i'd saved on a flash drive, so I put them in the correct folder and everything, but now Deus Ex says it can't use the save because I was using the HD pack when I first made this save, and i'm currently not using the HD pack... which leads to
Second-B: So I go ahead and download the HD textures pack, but now when I go to start Deus Ex, it only recognizes software rendering on my computer...
