From Wiki:
Following up on the extremely-enthusiastic fan reception of the first SS game, SNK rebuilt the sequel from the ground up, including almost all of its predecessor's cast, adding several new characters, and refining the overall gameplay with more responsive control, more moves (particularly the use of the POW meter as a finishing-move meter), and a substantial number of Easter eggs.

The overall gameplay was expanded to include several movement options, such as being able to roll forward and backward, ducking to avoid high attacks, or doing small hops to avoid low strikes. This game was also the first game to incorporate an offensive blocking technique or "parry", via a command issued at the last second, a player would be able to deflect the incoming attack and leave their adversary open to attack by a split second. Such a technique would not be incorporated into other fighting games for several years, until the advent of Capcom's Street Fighter 3. There are also cameo appearances from other SNK characters, a hidden boss who would occasionally come out to challenge players, and several other treats for fans to uncover.

Samurai Shodown was the game that originally made me beg my parents for a Neo Geo. Thankfully, a slightly neutered but almost as fun version was released for the SNES. Sadly, my local Stark's Restaurant soon featured a SamSho II arcade cab, and the need for a Neo Geo was once again burning in my loins.

Super advanced for it's time and absolutely beautiful. The Neo Geo's scaling and zooming effects were already impressing everyone with the first game, and SamSho II knocked it up another level. SNK added in more animation, more detailed levels, and more characters to choose from.

You can own a piece of gaming history for only 800 MS Points. Go get it! I call Ukyo.

Samurai Shodown II

Ukyo is a badass

I don't have the game yet (stuck at work). For anyone who may have it, which version did they release? Strictly the American version, or do we have access to the region locks?

Also, I refuse to play against anyone who owns a Hori stick. :P

EDIT

So far, reports of the net code are super awesome.

EDIT

Uncensored!!!

From what I can understand they used the wrong arcade-bios (or whatever it's called) so no access to cheat meny or dip-switches(?).
Was going to buy SS2 for 400MS funbucks but that was wrong price and for 800 I got 6-7 other games (at 800 each) that I should buy first. Great news that net-code is good.

(Related: KoF98' Ultimate Match, another Neo-Geo classic, is listed for release on XBLA next year).

    No training mode either.

    EDIT

Also, you can turn off that shitty filter that MS has devs put on their old 2D games.
