So I spilled some food on this nice white, French cuff shirt over the weekend. I wanted to clean off the stains using bleach, thus I have a quick question:
Can I use chlorine bleach (the kind with sodium hypochlorite)? It's a 100% cotton, $70 Ike Behar shirt so I'm guessing it's not filled with synthetic material, but it doesn't say what kind of bleach I should use. I have another white shirt that specifically says non-chlorine bleach, though that's also 100% cotton.
If you spent that much on a shirt and got crap on it you should just take it to the cleaners and not risk messing it up.
QFT... don't risk a $70 shirt during your 1st bleaching experiment, just get it dry cleaned
if you're feeling brave however, the most important thing to know is not to use full strength bleach... dilute it with water and dab lightly with a Q-tip rather than soaking the stain... then make sure to rinse out all the bleach with water
