I got the iPhone 3G this summer, its my first iPhone and for the most part i really like it (other than some cosmetic problems such as, but not limited to, crome parts chipping off and light scratching on the back even with a case on it 24/7)
but for the first time i went to put my iPhone on my desktop PC which is a custom build from iBuyPower.com, it has windows vista 64 on it. ive had a few issues here and there but in the full year that ive owned it i have never once gotten the blue screen of death, and only a few freezes which required a restart. once i plugged in my iPhone (was using a friends laptop for my music/video collection before) it almost instantly made my computer go tot he blue screen, so it restarts, and i try it again, same thing. i reset the iPhone and try it again, same outcome. i tried to call apple and was on hold for 30mins and hung up because i needed to go to work. truthfully i dont know what the problem is, the phone or the computer.
i thought it was the phone because my computer never has this problem and i have connected my zune/harmony 800 remote/camera/and mouse into it all within the last week with no problems, but then was told by someone who really thinks he knows what he is talking about that it is impossible that it is the phone at fault (though he is a bit of an apple fanboy, which i am not) so i thought i'd get a second (or maybe third) opinion.

Looks like maybe a uninstall of Itunes, then a reinstall might fix it. I would stay away from version 8 until they patch it.
This says update to SP1 at the end. But yeah...known and common issue.
