Email providers and custom domains?

So, I've got an email account through yahoo; yahoo! plus with a customized domain name (blah_blah@myaddress.com).

Every day I get loads of spam, no matter how many times I mark messages as spam, it only seems to block that address and not, y'know, scan the email for potential spammery. For instance, I got 3 (3) emails this morning about Viagra. Not V146rA or V.iagra, but straight-up viagra.

So I'm looking for an email provider with a better spam filter that I can port my custom domain name and email addresses to. Obviously, paying isn't a problem, but a lower price is always good... I've looked at GoDaddy.com; their offers are somewhat complex, but I think I could work out a package with them.

Does anyone have any tips or other info that I should be aware of when looking to switch providers?

You can use Gmail for free with your domain.

It's filtering actually, you know, works.

Seconded. Every e-mail address I have forwards to my Gmail account. You can even set it up to act like it's replying from those addresses if you like.

Third'd. Every now and then I consider going back to Thunderbird or Mail.app, but it always falls on me having to do my own spam fighting if I do that. Gmail's spam filter is just that good.

Note that you can access a Gmail account with Thunderbird (and presumably Mail.app) without affecting the spam filtering in any way whatsoever. I use Thunderbird and have found out it even has nifty extensions to make accessing a Gmail account very, very easy (and Lightning has extensions to use Google Calendar).
