So I just urinated four times in the past, like, hour. This isn't right at all. I'm going to see a doctor sometime this week, but what could this be? I'm 20 years old and relatively healthy. Work out 3 to 5 times a week and drink a load of water.
So is it possible I have prostate cancer at my age... Or is it more likely to be enlarged? I'm just sort of worried and wondering what to expect. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I've had a history with shy bladder syndrome and when I pee it's like the pressure dies down towards the end before I'm actually finished.
It's understandable to be worried. I've had a problem 'down there' for the last 3-4 months. When you see the doctor, get every possible test/scan done. Not because they might be wrong, but to help yourself and clear your head of any negative thoughts. After reading about prostate cancer i read that it mostly occurs in men around 50 + and very rarely in men around 30-40. How long have you had problems for? Your post sounds like it has been rushed, and is sort of all over the place.
But yeah, not much online forum can do for you, but you're doing the right thing going to the doctor right away.
Sorry, I was on my way out but thought I should get it out there just to get an idea. I meant I drink around 2 litres of water a day. It's been going on for a while now but I never really thought "hey this isn't right". I mean it's been on and off and I'll just claim that i had too much to drink or something etc.
What did it end up being, winter? So it's extremely rare for someone my age to have prostate cancer? I couldn't imagine how I'd get it, I haven't been exposed to any carcinogenics (as far as I know), and I don't have a genetic history of it. I'm too afraid to read about it on the internet because I'm sure it won't be nearlyas accurate as it should be and I'll just get paranoid.
I don't think you should be worried at all about prostate cancer just yet, usually the signs of prostate cancer/enlarged prostate are the opposite, because the prostate surrounds urethra when it becomes enlarged it clamps down on it, causing you to have difficulty urinating, or having trouble maintaining adequate flow. Sometimes it does mean that you have increased frequency because you are not emptying out your bladder - so it's probably just an exacerbation of your existing condition.
When you pee, the colour of your urine is a good indication of how hydrated you are, if it is a dark amber colour it means that you should be drinking more, if it's light, then you're hydrated enough.
You should be going to the doctor, they'll check your prostate to be sure, they should also do a diabetes test and also take a urine sample to check if you have a UTI. Please don't freak out yet though...prostate cancer is very rare in younger people.
I do sometimes have trouble maintaining a steady flow, but I think that's more because of the shy bladder. Thanks a lot for the support, guys, really appreciate it. I'm pretty worried about it, but this has made me feel a bit better.
Mine is a different problem to yours but still in that sensitive area. Mine is bacterial infection caused from either the urine, or something from digestive system (how the f**k it ended up down there i dont know). But anyway, its hard not to imagine the worst possible situation, but try to not get stressed or worried over it. See the doctor, do everything they recommend. Hope you feel better soon.
it is rare that someone so young could have prostate problems, unless you are a heavy smoker or have unprotected sex.
A simple blood test will let the doctor know if you are at risk.
Good luck.

can be a lot of things. BPH, diabetes, certain differences in kidney functions.
Best to get it checked out by a doc, they'll be able to tell you whats up. If you have a family history of diabetes/are overweight/are thirsty all the time, it might do to ask for a blood sugar test.
If you're drinking over 2 litres of water a day...you just have to pee a lot man. I drink probably 3 litres a day, and sometimes I'm peeing several times an hour.
I make it worse on myself by not paying attention when I'm coding and downing the litre in like 30 minutes. For the next couple hours I'll have to pee a lot.

When you go, are you urinating a lot, or does it just feel like you have to urinate all the time? If it's the latter, you may have prostatitis (an infection of the prostate gland). An antibiotic will clear it up real quick if that's the case. I had it. It can come with other, even more fun symptoms (bloody semen, how's that to freak you out?) but is quite minor if you get the antibiotics. If it does turn out to be an infection, you can help avoid them in the future by making sure you urinate soon after having sex/ejaculating.
The fun part? Most primary care physicians don't have a lot of familiarity with it. If your insurance allows, you may want to go to a urologist.
I heard that urination without having drunk much is a symptom of diabetes - you need to pee to offload sugars, and then you get dehydrated and thirsty. If you're drinking a lot of water and needing to pee after drinking, it doesn't sound so much like diabetes. And there are lots of things that could make you pee a lot aside from prostate problems.
I'm glad you're seeing a doctor, though. The things people in the US won't see a doctor for are quite shocking to me.

How much is "a load"?

That shit makes me empty my bladder multiple times within a short period of time, but if I don't have it then I'm fine.
Also, how much urine comes out when you are using the bathroom? Is it a normal amount or is it just a little, a whole lot, etc...?

yes, it could be this. Ask the doctor about it.
I applaud you for making an appointment and then coming to H/A by the way.
