GUYS I HAVE AN IDEA FOR THE NEW AD CAMPAIGN HOLY SHIT
Calm down Bob what's going on
WE PUT SEINFELD AND GATES TOGETHER, RIGHT
AND THEN WE NEVER TELL THEM WHAT WE'RE SELLING
THEY'LL BUY ALL OUR SHIT JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE AD WAS FOR
Bill Gates is not a regular dude
He has more money than Jesus and God and the devil combined
And the devil's been making a shitload off of coke deals over the millenniums
Whether Mac/PC fills you with immense joy for the platform or sends you into a rage, at least they got a reaction. You associate emotion with the project now.
At the moment the Seinfeld/Gates commercials don't do that. They're just... eh. I don't really get anything out of them. Now, in the future they may build up the characters to make them more engaging, give them some sort of character arc to get you engaged with the platform. I think that's what they're going for ultimately, but hell I don't know, I'm not an advertising professional.
This commercial is probably less about a single product and more about how Microsoft want to you to use the entire range of their products in your computing ways.

to be fair, this also got a reaction
enough of a reaction that PA made a strip about it and people immediately knew what they were talking about

I mean, aren't they dinosaurs?
Why aren't they trying to eat Samuel L. Jackson on a plane?

Cheese and Toes, who thought that sounded appetizing?

I find them cryptic and confusing so I pretty much just change the channel when I see 'em

edit: here we go
Is...is that what they were going for?

I want ten minutes of my life back
More or less
They're also trying to indicate that dummies spend big piles of money on shitty dells
I'm glad I read it like 5 minutes before this comic got posted.

Then they became a nuisance, than grating and painful, and now they just make me so mad
no, not really. at least the mac/pc commercials were about the products they advertised, and said products were mentioned during the ad
so much
which is sad because the guy who plays PC was really funny the one time i saw him on The Daily Show
they are usually complete total lies as well.
The bee beat me to it
The MS ones are like "look at us shooting a mini episode of Seinfeld! Don't you wish you knew why we made this?"

Doesn't have to make sense to be good.

just sort of be all "hey, everyone, bill gates just sort of a regular dude, yeah? built computers in his garage, remember?"
If you're advertising a product with important and moderately complicated technical specification, yes it fucking does

enough of a reaction that PA made a strip about it and people immediately knew what they were talking about
it's more entertaining than most full television programs
