So I am currently employed at a job I started in June and I've really enjoyed it, but my hours are non existent. There's an English pub across the street hiring kitchen staff, so I updated my resume and plan to send it in. Thoughts? How can I improve this? I'm a 17 year old lady so I will probably be going up against stiff competition, as it were, and want my resume to be the best it can be. Obviously parts have been changed so my identity remains a secret.

Have you done any extra-curricular stuff? Clubs, first aide courses, awards? Also I have a list of things I'm good/proficient at as well. Like school subjects or more specific non work related stuff.

But other then that it looks good.

I would say organize your experience list from most recent to least, especially because the most recent jobs are the most comparable to the job to which you are applying.

also, www.websters.com is your friend if you need a thesaurus. avoid repeated words, like proficient.

    1. Objective. Nobody cares. You're applying to be kitchen staff, everyone knows your objective is to use your skills in a kitchen and blah blah blah. It's just fluff.

    2. Qualifications -- this is, again, obvious stuff. Everyone wants to say 'works without supervision'.

    3. Work -- should be reverse chronological (start with most recent first), and if possible, should be MORE than just a description of what you did. What you did does not tell anyone how well you did it. After you write a description of what you did, add 2-5 bullets (or less, or more) of accomplishments at that job. not duties or responsibilities, but proof that you did the job well.

    4. References -- everyone knows this is available by request.
