I was in a department store/supermarket in Shanghai, and one of the songs they played over the PA system was a pop version of Elgar's Salut d'Amour (video link for the original, classical song). Does anyone know the name for the Chinese pop version? I'm assuming it's somewhat popular now, since they played it over and over (like 5 times in 40 minutes).
Maybe not, though, because they also played "Happy Birthday" a lot, too.
edit: I'd give you a link, but I don't know if that's ok or not.
I don't think it's this one; I had run into this one through Google when I tried to find it myself -- apparently there was a Chinese show called Salut d'Amour/Love's Greeting, but the intro music (I think) just plays Salut d'Amour on a piano briefly then changes into vocals with a completely different melody. The version I heard today was just the main theme of Salut d'Amour with words, and sped up a lot (I would guess 90-100 beats/minute) with an Asian pop beat. It was like a DDR version of the song.

Ahh, then I'll ask her about that.
