Help me set up a proxy (so I can buy things on Steam)...

So, tonight I reclaimed my Steam account after a long period of inactivity (because I switched to Mac and only recently decided to install boot camp on my laptop and run a windows gaming partition)... And I thought that I'd go ahead and splurge and pick up Crysis and Clear Sky-- you know, legitimately.

But Steam just won't let me spend my cashmoney. See, I live in Japan. But all my accounts (credit card, steam, Xbox Live, etc.) are USA accounts. All the games I buy are American games. (Yeah, I do buy some Japanese stuff, but generally, online purchases I go American whenever possible.)

Anyway, Steam won't let me buy anything and I need to trick it into thinking I'm sitting in America trying to make these purchases. Can anyone help me set up a proxy of some sort that will trick Steam into thinking I'm back home in the USA long enough to make these purchases?

When I try to pay using PayPal, the system has an error and gives me no explanation as to why I can't buy my games. After that, I switched to CC and Steam tells me that I can't make my purchases unless i check that little box that says I live in the same country my CC is from. If I check that box, Steam takes a look at my IP address and says, "Nope, you can't spend your American money in Japan to buy these games. Sorry."

I really, really want to play these games but Steam refuses to allow me to spend my money on them. Any help?

I'm somewhat in the same situation, but not to the degree that you are with having some games unavailable to purchase due to not living on the US.

Their ToS mentions that for legal reasons you're not able to purchase certain games in certain countries, but you should find that people who live in the U.S. can gift them to you. Do you have any friends or relatives over there that you can Paypal the money to and have them gift it to you? This should do the trick for you.

I remember my friend in Australia trying this. I set him up with a proxy that should of done the trick but it didn't seem to help. So we just ended up having him paypal me the money and I gifted it to him.
