I'm trying to make my boyfriend one for our anniversary. Honestly, I'm trying to make a FF one. Does anyone have any links or advice on how to even go about doing this?

Thanks a million.

If you mean a moving one with gears, you're getting into some time consuming ground. How long until your anniversary? If it's just a non moving model though, then your first step would be to check out some jewelry shops and ebay for busted clocks and pocketwatches to use for parts, for the gears and such. Then check out flea markets and thrift stores for the metal scraps or parts that would look good.

An excellent resource is the steampunk forum, called brass goggles. Unfortuneatley it's down for the forseeable future due to server problems, but I think there's a secondary forum (google "spare goggles steampunk") where most of the regulars are talking. They can give you more advice.
