I kind of agree. The 3D doesn't quite match up perfectly with the 2D. It's not bad, but it's enough that it's noticeable.
I think it's how the people are rendered; the monsters and backdrops are fine.

Is that forum running in real time or is it pre-rendered? :P

If you have footage please post the link, even though I am loving the link to G&T :)

    EDIT: dur ninja edit

Ok that looks great and possibly a complete different game style to the DS version so could see me playing both.

Oh man, that trailer looks wonderful, especially the overworld, which looks very DQ8-ish to me. This game has jumped up and pushed Portal 2 down from my second most anticipated spot (Last Guardian has a permanent seat at number 1 of course).

OK, I am buying the PS3 version.
That is the best use of HD graphics I have ever seen. By a long way.

I'm not really a fan of any of Level-5's RPGs, but that is just... wow. I have no doubt that the game itself will bore me to tears, but I HAVE to give it a shot after seeing that.

Looks gorgeous, but the combat doesn't look very fun.

I read the thread title and I want to dry hump or "drump" my monitor. I mean, it ships with an ornate and well designed instruction manual not unlike GTA:SA or Homeworld's respective boots. How can I not slap my groin against my monitor.

    What.

What do you consider adult themes? Nearly every ghibli movie I've watched has mature themes one way or the other, some more than others.

Ponyo didn't really do it for me. I simply couldn't suspend disbelief enough to go for the whole "5 year old boy finds true love forever and always with a fish he met that morning.

Course every other Ghibli movie has succeeded in turning my heart into puppies and rainbows.

Or whatever it was it was Mononoke did. Not exactly a happy movie, but it's my favorite.

On topic: I'd completely forgotten about this game, and now I'm excited about it again.

Both games look fantastic. I like the idea of using the book as a reference while you play the DS game, but the visuals of the PS3 version are amazing.

Keeping an eye on this for sure.

Looks fantastic, but I'm not letting go of the hand drawn backgrounds of the DS version... which means I'll end up getting both :P

As dark as Mononoke was, even it had a happy ending(sort of).

Take away the animation part, and what's left of movies like Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro or Princess Mononoke (those and Spirited Away are the ones I've seen, although admittedly the last one is quite good). I really just want to switch off when I see them with someone else who was not exposed to animes before, but that's me. Never understood the cult following they have in the internet.

I'm going to stop derailing the thread with my random rant now.

I'm completely confused by the inclusion of Princess Mononoke in that list.

General liveblog of level-5, and they're talking about ninokuni.

    So far, pokemanz.
Now we're being shown how to capture "Imagine" which are animals in Ninokuni you can capture and raise to battle other monsters along side you.
    3:30
As you train your Imagine, they evolve into other pokemon.
    3:30
    I mean IMAGINE.
    3:31
They are going to do some imagine battling now. 3vs3 , menu driven battles.
