So I built a new rig before I moved, but I didn't get internet for two months so the thing sat in a corner. I've finally got six meg high speed, so now I want to get things up and running.
It's a clean install with office 03, and sp3 and the latest little side batch of updates, but aside from that it's bare. (Oh yeah, XP pro)
For years now I've had my list of things, (gaim/pidgin, firefox, avg, etc.) but it's time to start anew.
What I'm looking for is the best all around software to go on my machine, for free (legally)
I need
Media playback and music
Networking and FTP
Storage Management
Web Browsing/Editing
IM Client
Good small freeware games that are fun
I've got a wacom and CS3, but any other good art software or free brush palletes worth getting
Security
Anti Virus/Anti Spyware
And anything else I'm leaving off.
I'll consider all good suggestions, and don't be afraid to get technical, I know what I'm doing, I just haven't really gone and seen what's out there in the past two years, so I don't just want to stick the same old stuff back on my machine when there's better things floating around the web.
Thanks H/A

well, that's actually my current setup, so I guess I'm pretty much done then unless someone has different ideas.
