"A work of art? It has no invention; it has no order, system, sequence, or result; it has no lifelikeness, no thrill, no stir, no seeming of reality; its characters are confusedly drawn, and by their acts and words they prove that they are not the sort of people the author claims that they are; its humor is pathetic; its pathos is funny; its conversations are -- oh! indescribable; its love-scenes odious; its English a crime against the language.
Counting these out, what is left is Art. I think we must all admit that."

Iago had a bunch of reasons that he gave various people for his actions.
1) He was pissed that Othello made Cassio his lieutenant even though Iago had seniority.
2) He thought it was fucked up for a Moor to get busy with a white chick.
3) Word on the street was that Othello was screwing Iago's wife.
But I always thought those were pretty insubstantial reasons. He was the fucking Joker as far as I'm concerned.

I am going to go ahead and say that Othello is no Batman. But Titus Andronicus + Sweeney Todd = awesome.

Titus Andronicus isn't that great
It has great lines but the whole plot is very confused
The Julie Taymor movie really cleans it up and makes it cohesive

what on earth are you talking about
titus captures tamora & sons, kills son, tamora vows revenge, tamora marries emperor and kills titus' family over the period of the play. emperor dies, titus makes tamora eat her sons in retaliation for them raping lavinia, and kills both her and the emperor. titus' brother ascends the throne.

See, the moral of Shrew could be "strong women turn into blubbering idiots over men." Fuck that noise. That is the Faye Dunaway post-feminist thing and I hate it. Yes I know Shakespeare did it a million years ago shut up.
Okay I have to sleep because my final is at 8am. I will talk to you all about Shakespeare tomorrow.

that last line is a hell of a zinger
I wonder if his dong kind of looks like Nietzsche, too.
It has a little beard and it behaves rudely towards women and sick people

I am a scientist and therefore correct
blood tragedies are the best tragedies
no fuck you
Midsummer's is better
that's how I roll
so is this your coming out of the closet post?
hands down
this is my no fuck you you're dumb post
look hamlet's great and all but midsummer's is superior
and so's othello
and I haven't seen or read titus so I can't judge
my point is Hamlet's over-rated
Every time I read this, I think of
how the fuck do you make a short story that begins with deep throating so goddamn boring
It has great lines but the whole plot is very confused
The Julie Taymor movie really cleans it up and makes it cohesive

two gentlemen of verona is pretty fucked too, considering proteus threatens to rape sylvia and valentine offers her to him.
as you like it is cool but there is so much crossdressing and gender play it would probably offend most people
