My girlfriend gets free passes to laser tag at where she works. That's pretty much the only time I ever play.

I wish I could play paintball more, but all of my friends who used to be into it no longer have the time, or they moved away. Shame because I have the most awesome paintball areas on my parents property.

If I lived even remotely close to Houston, TX I'd be at Lazer Quest shooting 10 year olds like every day. They have the best facility that I've been seen.

Austin has a pretty small one and the guns are worthless.

Also, Mysst and I used to go to this arcade in High School to play Crazy Taxi over and over and they had a small Lazer Runner set up. It was truly awful.

The problem with laser tag is that there's no incentive to not get shot, really. It just ends up being people walking around in circles around the arena shooting people as they go. There's no strategy, no real concept of advancement or retreat, etc.

Sounds like whoever was talking about the outdoor place where you actually "die" after getting shot a few times would do the trick though. It's more just the fact that these places are really lazy and have no conception of good game mechanics than anything inherent in the concept of laser tag.

I'm just bitter because I wasted money on it as a kid when I should have been paintballing.

Paintball is truly the vastly superior activity.

Nothing like a huge outdoor paintball arena and the feeling of executing a successful surprise attack. Of course, by this time you're soaking wet and covered in mud but goddamn it you won.

Yeah, love these places and their little rules.

    No running.
    No ducking.
No pistol whipping someone in the face and shooting him while he's blinded by his own blood.

Oh crap I remember the best laser tag ever. It was at camp and they had this big wooded area. There was a huge hill covered in trees with a road at the top for sniping, a thicket at the right side, a creek across the trail at the bottom on the left and some more thicket on the far side. They had these awesome metal guns that were full size. They only looked slightly like real guns though. There was an Uzi type, a Skorpion type, a rifle, a Alien Plasma Rifle and a Sniper rifle. They all had different ranges and red dot sights except the Sniper which had a magnified scope. It was something like 10 hits until you died and you had to hit a button to reload after a certain amount of shots. Eventually you could run out of ammo too. It was 10 on 10 or so for 20 minute rounds or so. It was incredibly fun. It got really strategic later on too. The sensors were attached to hats that you had to wear. Boonie hats were one team and regulars were the other. There was one on the back and front so you couldn't cover them up well. And if you did they would probably kick you out and you'd be short $20 ($20 for 2 hours each day for 2 days I think).

I demand you reveal the precise location of such a venue. I must know posthaste.

LASER TAG? What are you suppose to be dressed up as the product? Or is it more abstract then that? Like are you suppose to be the concept of laser tag? Come on man, you know you just found that old crap in a trunk in your basement.

It was church camp. Ridgecrest. Somewhere in the mountains of NC. That was the only redeeming quality of that place.

Oh man last time I went paintballing, it rained like a motherfucker early in the morning, so that everything became slippery and muddy. It was still a drizzling when we started our day, but by lunch time, the sun had come out, and it was hot.

It resulted in us experiencing a whole range of interesting sensations that day. Starting with cold, wet and slimy in the morning, then as the sun came out, steamy and muggy (and our masks all fogged up on the inside), then hot, sweaty and caked in dry mud all over by mid-afternoon.

My worst wound from that day was when a dude hit me in the hand from a close distance with his pro rifle, the ones with the double triggers that fire like 8 rounds a second. The skin didn't really break, but it was close to breaking... but the blood vessels underneath the skin broke alright. Massive red pulsating bruise on the hand holding my gun makes for difficult paintballing.

    dude

    do you live in melbourne

because we have one of the same places
East Coast of the US. The guns were Australian made though, so you probably have the same ones down there.

the only downside to it is that ours only had one tiny sensor on the head

nearly impossible to consistently get good shots off

Pretty sure the guns have targets as well

We did a 2 hour session there for my friend's bucks celebration, it was pretty damn fun, all stalking around the empty buildings and crawling in the dirt

I should really go there more often, it's like 10 minutes from my house

I've never done paintball though, I'd like to someday but it always seems like too much hassle and too expensive

The laser tag place that used to be in the Mall of America was rad.

    Starbase Omega I believe?

Also the best tactic in laser tag is to rush the enemy base, and spin frantically in a circle because their lasers won't register on you.
